Book Description

September 30, 2002
Most people, throughout their lives, walk the tightrope between pure good and unadulterated evil, never finding their way to, or even believing in, either extreme. Perry Conners, a successful businessman being groomed for politics, is one of these "middle-liners" until Evil Personified, in the form of a once-trusted woman now using sex as her tool against him, methodically steals his every sleeping and waking moment, taking him beyond reason, dignity, even self. A physical and psychological fight for his soul, and his body is being waged, and Perry is, literally, the battlefield. His only true hope, also a woman, is determined to bring him through and beyond it to the Other Side . . . at all costs, even if it means her own sanity. Which will win this very real struggle? Good or Evil? It's just a matter of time.

More About the Author

Linda J. Alexander grew up with the 'seventies entertainment scene, fascinated by all the people on TV and in the movies, as well as the characters in those romance novels she couldn't put down. After doing the hustle, watching The Mod Squad, and listening to the Monkees and Herman's Hermits on her Duster's car radio, eventually she interviewed and wrote about some of those same characters--the entertainers who had earlier engaged her imagination. She also discovered a fascination for the Golden Era of Hollywood, when romance was romantic, stories had serious plot--and politics worked much in the same way as they do today.

Linda now entertains others with her writing. The most recent of 5 published books is REULCTANT WITNESS: ROBERT TAYLOR, HOLLYWOOD & COMMUNISM, on the market in 2008. The book chronicles the life of Robert Taylor, one of Hollywood's most handsome leading men of all times, from his small-town Nebraska roots to his death in 1969. Taylor's single most defining moment was a subpoenaed appearance in front of 1947's House Un-American Activities Committee in response to a tangible fear of Communism invading the United States. He was as popular as compatriots Ronald Reagan and even John Wayne, yet today he is incorrectly remembered most often as the actor who "named names." Linda's book sets the record straight and tells the truth of Taylor's life and that political "circus," his words for the HUAC.

Linda has published 2 other nonfiction books, THE UNPROMISED LAND, a biography of a Messianic Jewish couple, and DOROTHY FROM KANSAS MEETS THE WIZARD OF X, a look into the adult film world, as well as two novels of dark, sexy intrigue--UNTIL NEXT TIME and WEEKENDS IN NEW ENGLAND.

Another Hollywood biography by Linda is due out in 2011, A MAVERICK LIFE: THE JACK KELLY STORY, about TV and 50s film star, & long-time Huntington Beach, CA politician, Jack Kelly.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book took me into a different world., April 8, 2009

This review is from: Until Next Time (Paperback)
Last Saturday I picked up this book and read it from cover to cover the same day. It is very out-of-character for me to not put down a book and also to read this kind of book. The book was so well written that I felt like I was inside the story watching all the characters and events as they happened. I totally stepped outside of everything familiar to me and entered another world while I was reading this book. I loved the experience of opening myself up to something so different and as a result I embraced more facets of my own personality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Evocative Fiction, July 29, 2003

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Until Next Time (Paperback)
Until Next Time begins by thrusting the reader into the tortured ecstasy Perry Connors endures every night and yet has no memory of the next day. All he knows is that his body and mind are being overpowered by some force that is too strong to be resisted, and his health is failing as a result of the constant abuse. In his search for help, he meets Dr. Michaele Vincente--Mickey to her friends--and finds an experienced psychiatrist who is not only his best chance for uncovering his problem, but also a beautiful woman who is his best chance for finding real love.

Perry and Mickey struggle to expose the evil that is trying to destroy him: Lillia Donovan--an ambitious, calculating woman determined to possess Perry's fortune, business, and his body. Lillia learned about evil firsthand in her past and uses her hatred of men to show Perry and anyone who dares to help him not a shred of mercy.

Until Next Time invokes such a wide array of emotions with the intensely sexual images of Lillia's power over Perry, the deep feelings between Perry and Mickey from their first encounter, and the loving relationships between Perry and his closest friends and family members. These are all people about whom the reader cares and empathizes--even Lillia with her history of abuse that drove her to become the monster she is.

My eyes couldn't move fast enough to suit me as I read the final pages to see who would triumph in this unforgettable battle for one man's soul. Ms. Alexander spins an enthralling tale that delivers on every level. Bravo!
