Tima Montemayor may not be known to most because of, and at this point, only a dedicated and intensely loyal fan following and a west coast base primarilly...but this will change! All you need is one listen and you will be hooked for life and buying copies to gift to friends (as I have).

"Until Now" is the stunning debut album (2005) from the beautifully talented singer, songwriter, performer, and yes...person too! It is a shame on me that it is until now that I have written such long overdue praise of this wonderful CD. From the opening song "Steps Away", through and including the final song "Can't Let Go" you will be mesmerized and fully captivated by the voice, the lyrics, the mood, the varied textures and rhythms, and deeply personal nature of the work here. It is truly a labor of love and exploration of varied emotions which we all can relate to and have been deeply moved by in our respective times. Tima does in fact strike a nerve of the human condition and it's ups and downs.

Characterizing this artist or her cd is difficult because there are multiple influences here and all of them work perfectly in the context of Tima's lovely and plaintiff vocals, her depth of musical and lyrical emotion, stellar musicianship and production values, and multi national and ethnic influences. The CD runs the range of romantic love ballads, romantic pop, ethereal mood music, uptempo jazz, world music influences, and even a radio friendly song or two! Tima's voice is absolutely captivating and angelic...as is she. You will at times be driven to tears or at least fighting them back amidst the emotion of the song or it's personal connection with something in your own life. I was fortunate to literally stumble upon Tima and her music on myspace, was immediately transfixed, and am now without a doubt a fan for life. She is truly remarkable and a treasure.
The extra good news is that her new CD "In This Trance" is only a short wait away from release early this year!!! So once you have played "Until Now" to the point of absolutely having to get more of Tima...it will be there. "Until Now" is 5 stars beyond any question and a must have...truly!!!

Tima Montemayor has subsequently released 2 additional CD's. "In this Trance" and a sesonal EP, "Midnight Clear". Two more brilliant and beautful cd's that must be had. I recently posted a review of "Minight Clear" here on Amazon and will be posting another long overdue one on 5 star rated "In this trance". Tima Montemayor is a truly wonderful and one of a kind artist and she is currently working on a brand new full CD for the new year 2012. I expect another excellent offering from her.

I'm always excited to find new artists who have a fresh take on music. The ways artists can get their music recorded, publicized, and then sold without having to be signed by the big labels is bringing a lot of variety back to music. I love Tima's music and her touching life story gives her music validity. So, buy the album and sit back, relax and enjoy or get up and dance to this awesome album.

I heard that she will be releasing a new album soon. I can't wait to hear it.

Tima Montemayor is perfect for those who like music that you can dance intimately to as well as have candelight dinner with. If you are a fan of Sade then you will definately like Tima! You can listen to her music on her website or her myspace. Although I dislike categorizing her, I would have to say her music is Smooth Jazz crossed with Trance. You definately can hear a fusion of other cultures' music within hers. She is breathtakingly beautiful with the talent to match. She also happens to be very accessible to her fans! I highly recommend this CD to anyone craving quality music and thought-provoking lyrics.
