5.0 out of 5 stars French Romantique film!
I have seen this movie over hundreds of times! Theirry Lhermitte is an absolutely amazing actor and this film makes you feel good. Karen Allen and Thieirry's chemistry on film is extraordinary. I lived in France and the portrayal of a frenchman is seen through the character of Monsieur LaPareau. I highly recommend this film from the late 80's. You will return to this...

1.0 out of 5 stars What is your belief system?
After reading many of the reviews, I decided to buy this DVD. I am such an idiot. I guess I am just a prude. Basically, I feel that a married person should not be hunting outside of their marriage for love. I feel that an unmarried person should not bother with married people. I feel that one should be proud to introduce one's date to anyone. I believe one's...

I actually used the line on a man who had Thierry Lhemitte's eyes and it worked--he smiled at me and thanked me!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Sappy Love Story I've Ever Seen., September 10, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Until September [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I saw this movie fifteen years after it originally came out and wondered how I could have missed it for so long. I've sent copies to friends and I've watched it repeatedly. It always makes me feel good and I like it more each time. The chemistry between Karen Allen and Thierry Lhermitte is palpable and although there's a moral problem inherent in the relationship, it is portrayed with sensuality, tenderness, and humor. I love both of these characters. Although Frenchman Thierry Lhermitte seems best known as a comedic actor, he's a more than believable Heartthrob! Do yourself a favor and see this video!

Why this title is no long in print is beyond me. This is one of the great love stories. It was truly wonderful, with great direction and acting. So much so that you really feel you know the characters...and how often does that happen in a movie now-a-days. Although some may no have liked it due to the sex scene, I think the sex scene was well done and very real. But the best part was when Thierry Lhermitte was trying to find Karen Allen at the airport...I was right on the edge of my seat! I really what them to find each other. If anyone from MGM/UA ever reads this please bring the film out in DVD...PLEASE.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, romantic, a movie I continue to watch, April 23, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Until September [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is my all-time favorite movie. I had first watched it a few years ago, and keep coming back. Thierry Lhermitte and Karen Allen's chemistry is magnetic. The scenes from Paris and the French countryside are so romantic, and this movie could only be set there. Why isn't Thierry in more American movies??

5.0 out of 5 stars UNTIL SEPTEMBER, February 15, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Until September [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I HAVE SEEN THIS MOVIE SO MANY TIMES THAT EVEN THOUGH MY DAUGHTER WAS EXTREMELY YOUNG ,SHE REMEMBERED ME WATCHING IT AND NOW LOVES IT AS MUCH AS I DO. IT IS AN EXCELLENT ROMANCE AND THE CHEMISTRY AND HUMOR MADE UP FOR THE MORAL ISSUE THAT WAS RAISED.A MARRIAGE OF CONVENIENCE AND MISTRESSES ON THE SIDE SUCCUMBS TO TRUE LOVE. THIERRY LHERMITE IS AND STILL IS GORGEOUS AND I SIMPLY LOVE KAREN ALLEN FROM PRIOR MOVIES. CALL ME SMARMY BUT TRITE OR NOT I USE TO RENT IT EVERY WEEK UNTIL I COPIED IT AND EVENTUALLY LOST EVEN THAT. I SAW IT AGAIN RECENTLY AND THE LOVE AFFAIR LIVES ON.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful... unforgettable film!, May 13, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Until September [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is an unforgettable film! I saw it for the first time on TV almost 14 years ago and I absolutely loved it, and never saw it again until last Tuesday. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it on the channel line up, on cable, scheduled to be shown at 11:30pm last Tuesday. Well, I stayed up and watched it- even thought I had to wake up the next day to go to work. I which Hollywood would re-release it. I can't find it in any of our video stores. Can anyone tell me where I may find a copy? Thanks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantasy Romance with Fascinating Frenchman Fulfilled, July 6, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Until September [VHS] (VHS Tape)
If you've ever had fantasies about having a romantic fling with a handsome Frenchman in Paris, you've got to see this film. Just looking at the tall, dark and handsome Thierry Lhermitte is enough to overcome some of the movie's shortcomings.

The script was rather trite and gave way to a rather superficial romance story on the same level as a Harlequin romance novel. There was a noticeable dearth of character development and I was somewhat troubled by the movie's answer to the moral dilemna presented: should a strong, self-sufficient, single woman pursue a relationship with a married man, the father of two children, who has admittedly married to fulfill his ambitions and had mistress(es) in the past?

Nevertheless, the hauntingly romantic and, at times, sultry theme music written by the prolific John Barry (the same talented guy who wrote the beautifully romantic theme from Somewhere In Time)sets the mood nicely. And, I can't say it enough, any scene with Thierry Lhermitte in it makes me swoon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely wonderful! You must see it again and again!, April 10, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Until September [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Karen Allen plays a beautiful American temporarily stranded in Paris. She meets Thierry Lhermitte a handsome married french banker.

The chemistry between Karen Allen and Thierry Lhermitte is great. Also, the contrast of Karen Allen's contemporary American midwestener personality and looks contrasts wonderfully with Lhermitte's sophisticated Parisian banker lifestyle and his exotic looks.

The change in the characters and their struggles with themselves, the affair and the various situations which occur during their affair are very interesting to watch.

Some things are predictable, however, it is still a very enjoyable film to watch. The more I watch this movie, the more I enjoy it, and I am not one of those people who can watch the same movie repeatedly. However, with this movie I can, I have and believe me, I will be watching it again. It is my favorite movie!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Romantic Film EVER.....to me!, July 15, 2006
This review is from: Until September (DVD)
I saw this film as a teenager when it came out in I believe 1984-85? I'm originally from a very small town in Ohio and I couldn't believe that 'they' actually got an "art-house" style movie to play where I was living...and I sincerely believe it's never happened again!
What a wonderful surprise, knowing nothing about it before seeing it.
Karen Allen and Thierry Lhermitte are beautiful together. It's such a simple story (trip chaperone gets stuck in Paris after missing flight and starts affair with arrogant married frenchman) and yet the actors and location shots just meld together perfectly to create a most memorable, touching and funny film.
If you like/love romantic films...Until September has got to be in your collection!!
Peace.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why isn't this on DVD?, December 6, 2002

I am a hopeless romantic and this movie is perhaps my favorite love story. I stumbled across it quite by accident two weeks ago and am amazed that I missed it all of these years. Thierry Lhermitte and Karen Allen exude incredible on screen chemistry, and I very much enjoyed their banter and culture differences. There are no words to describe the incredible Thierry Lhermitte. I simply cannot recall a more charismatic actor nor anymore with more beautiful eyes than that of this actor. I was so taken by him that I have since tried to get my hands on some of his other movies. Although I am not a great fan of subtitles, I highly recommend "The Dinner Game", a wonderful French comedy. This man is still gorgeous.
