Will Stay With You, Like Your First Lover, Long After the Album Ends,
By
This review is from: Until There's Nothing Left of Us (Audio CD)
While the Chicago based band's star power was evident upon the release of its Atlantic Records debut in 2004 its on this latest album that the group's potential is fully realized. "Until There's Nothing Left of Us" feels like a commercial sold-out concert at a big stadium. It opens with a two minute intro that builds from a heavy/thunderous mix of drums and keyboards to keep the fans in anticipation. Mat Devine's vocals echo across the keyboard on "Believer" while on "Lips Like Morphine" follows up with another hook. They cover Church's "Under the Milky Way" which gives a 1990's era Depeche Mode type of vibe. Just like your first love, this album will ring through your ears long after it ends.

they gave us what we expected....and it was darn fine,

In typical Kill Hannah style, Until there's nothing left layers lyrics that have been described as whiny, self absorbed and formulaic but somehow transcend those adjectives to produce a killer disc. The same dark yet almost bouncy charm their previous disc had holds true on Until there's nothing left of us. The melodies on the disc are catchy, the lyrics substantial; less vapid than the deluge of emo bands out there. Though Kill Hannah fits neatly into the emo thy seem to stand out as a band the other black clad rockers can aspire to-their own style, sound and insight. The single, Lips Like Morphine suggests a sentiment all die hard romantics share-a kiss, a love to knock you off your feet; Romeo died for it and I chance a bet that he would've listened to this song were he still around.
All in all-If you liked their last cd, you're gonna like this one. If you like My Chemical Romance, HIM, NIN, Muse, Hawthorne Heights or Dashboard-you're gonna like this cd.

Take a risk and check them out,

I first heard Kill Hannah on a tour with Clear Static and Shiny Toy Guns earlier this year. I was hooked with the first set I heard from them. (I went on to hear them twice more in the next 3 days.)
I love this album. I expected it to be a little more high energy/fast paced based on the first album, but it's a wonderful compliment. The wonderful intro and outro bookend the album beautifully. Lips Like Morphine could be the song that finally brings them to the top. If you want to hear some great alt rock, with touches of glam and emo thrown in, get this album. And, they tour nearly constantly, so check their websites for a show near you and be sure to see them live. Mat (the singer) has a great stage presence.

something breath-taking from an industry that has been going stale,

The Good
Cosmic keyboard tones and a steady drum beat warm you up for the driving guitars that follow on "Believer." Vocalist Mat Devine delivers with power and dark melodies. He has such a unique tone that I originally thought he was a woman. The riffs on "Lips Like Morphine" are as sharp as a knife piercing your skin. The songs chorus it delivered with a lot of energy and substance. "Black Poison Blood" brings the tempo and energy levels down a bit. The rhythms are reminiscent of early U2. The theme and tone is both dark and haunting. Electronic effects and drumbeats dominate "The Collapse;" giving the track a new wave meets gothic feel to it. Kill Hannah keep the retro meets modern rock sound going with the instantly catchy "Crazy Angel." "The Songs That Saved My Life" is a vocal heavy track that is enhanced with soft keys and later driving riffage. This song really struck a chord with me because I can remember turning to music when I was down and out as a kid. The Bad The two minute opening introduction is cool for a live show, but unnecessary for the CD. The Verdict When approaching major label rock bands, I'm always a little apprehensive. With a lot of bands today, you're really getting a lot of the same. I was taken aback by Kill Hannah from the get-go. They have a heavy and dark tone, but have a pop-rock appeal to them. It's nice to hear something breath-taking from an industry that has been going stale.

Kill Hannah is a band that you don't want to miss out on. Their new album is amazing with an intro track that gets you ready for what's about to come. Pick up this CD and then go to one of their concerts, they are just as amazing live and you will not be dissapointed!

If you are unfamilar with Kill Hannah, then buy either of their albums available here on amazon.
Kill Hannah are one of those amazing bands that somehow seem cursed not to ever get the respect they deserve. Even being signed to a major hasn't seemed to help them much as they do not get the promo they rightfully deserve. Having built a cult like following just by relentless work and amazing music, they are one of those bands which I find easy to get new converts to whenever one of my friends "wants to hear some new stuff". In the days of mindless and boring radio rock filled with infinite clones that are less than inspiring, we could really use a band this passionate to make us believe in rock again.

This followup to For Never and Ever is amazing. These guys aren't just an underdog that can go the distance with the big boys; they're the ones that come along and are so good, you wonder why you've never heard of them before. When you're talking about the more publicized Chicago-area alternative bands, here's a shocker: Kill Hannah doesn't just compete with bands like Fall Out Boy; in my opinion (as well as a growing number of fans), they beat them. Regardless of whether you agree or disagree with the above statement, I hope you at least give these guys a shot by purchasing this CD. You won't regret it!

The new album from Kill Hannah can be described in one word: Amazing! It's a CD that you pop in and don't take out. This album has everything you need to jam out too. It's an album that could take them to nationwide radio airplay. I highly recommend this KH album to all old and new KH fans.

Album of the year by Mullin,
This review is from: Until There's Nothing Left of Us (Audio CD)
I was blown away by Until There's Nothing Left of Us. Kill Hannah continues to pound out a great mixture of synth and guitar. "Intro" brings out the mood of a raging storm coming into the album. Songs like "Believer" and "Crazy Angel" are probably the most radio friendly off the album, but the hit on this album has to be "Black Posion Blood" on a whole i love the new album and suggest anyone to go out buy the album and see one of their shows.
