From Booklist

A woman with a heart of gold uses her Midas touch to humanize her boss and benefactor in Mallory’s latest, light-hearted Fools Gold romance. Twenty-eight-year-old Larissa Owens is right-hand woman to former professional quarterback Jack McGarry, now an executive at Score, the PR firm he, two NFL friends, and Jack’s ex-wife created. Besides being Jack’s scheduler and the company’s masseuse, Larissa has also been a mega-do-gooder for the past few months she’s lived in Fool’s Gold, California. From helping sick children to rescuing animals, Larissa has convinced Jack to fund her projects. When she finds a homeless teen, Percy, she talks Jack into taking the boy into his home, giving him a job at Score, and helping him get his GED. Larissa’s family and friends worry that Larissa’s love for Jack isn’t reciprocated. Having lost his twin brother when they were teens, then having his parents leave him, Jack believes he’s incapable of love. It takes reaching rock bottom and having Larissa and his friends rescue him to change Jack’s mind. --Pat Henshaw

More About the Author

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Susan Mallery has entertained millions of readers with her witty and emotional stories about women and the relationships that define their lives. She has published more than 100 romance and women's fiction novels, beginning with two books the same month when she was just out of college. Her books have spent more than 120 weeks on the USA Today bestsellers list and have reached as high as #2 on the New York Times bestsellers list, statistically tied for #1 (THREE LITTLE WORDS, a Fool's Gold romance). Known for her keen insight into human nature and her humorous take on life, Susan Mallery has been described by RT Book Reviews as "in a class by herself!" and was featured as a Red Hot Read in Cosmopolitan Magazine. In 2013 and 2014, four of her books were named each year to Amazon's "Best Book of the Month" list.

With a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Susan is one of the few writers who can understand her royalty statement. She went on to get a Masters in Writing Popular Fiction and has extensively studied story structure in screenwriting courses, though she has no plans to write for the screen. Her goal, always, is to give readers a story that will move them, populated with characters who feel like real people.

Booklist says, "Novels don't get much better than Mallery's expert blend of emotional nuance, humor, and superb storytelling," and Publisher's Weekly calls her prose "luscious and provocative." Susan appreciates critical praise, but she values praise from her readers even more. She credits her successful career to the loyal readers who rush out to buy each new book on the day it's released.

With the advent of ebooks, Susan's career has soared even higher, and her books make regular appearances on both print and ebook bestsellers lists. She has embraced the Digital Age with a robust website (www.susanmallery.com), an active presence on Facebook (www.facebook.com/susanmallery) and a free Susan Mallery app for the iPhone, iPad, and Android devices (www.mobileroadie.com/apps/susanmallery). At www.foolsgoldca.com, she also provides bonus content such as after-the-happily-ever-after updates for the Fool's Gold romances, her most popular ongoing series.

Born and raised in California, Susan lives with her family in Seattle, where she survives the dreary days of winter with the help of a "happy lamp" and plenty of coffee.

“Until We Touch”, the final book in the Fool’s Gold trilogy this summer, is the story of Jack and Larissa. Jack is one of the principals in SCORE, a PR firm and Larissa is Jack’s masseuse/assistant. They have a very comfortable and symbiotic relationship. Larissa is forever finding causes and rescuing animals. Jack is always happy to bankroll Larissa’s projects and contribute to various charities, as long as he doesn’t have to be emotionally involved.
Jack and Larissa may have continued on like this forever. However, Larissa’s mother throws a curve ball into this relationship by telling Jack that Larissa is in love with him. Every comfortable part of their working and personal relationship is scrutinized as they wonder if this shocking statement is true. Both Jack and Larissa are forced to look deep inside themselves to evaluate their lives.

This is a typical Susan Mallery Fool’s Gold installment. There are the quirky citizens of the town and their festivals, the deep friendships between the women and a happy ending. One might think that it is totally predictable, but Susan manages to put in plot twists that leave you thinking “I didn’t see that coming”. It’ a good read that is easy enough to bring out to the beach, but has enough soul and heart to make you care about the characters and wonder what the future holds for them.
If you are a Susan Mallery fan, I wholeheartedly recommend “Until We Touch”. If you have not read any of this series, try this book. It’s enough of a stand alone that you will enjoy it on its own merits.

First. let me say that I like everything that Susan Mallery writes. I think she has a real gift of understanding people, how they talk and relate to each other, and how to communicate that in words.

As much as I enjoy her writing, however, I was a little disappointed in this Fool's Gold entry. It's the third book in her latest Fool's Gold trilogy, but, somehow, not up to the standard of the two that came before it. It was like reading Susan Mallery just slightly diluted.

It's hard to put my finger on why I kept putting the book down and finding something else to do. Although I liked Jack better than Larissa, I didn't find either of the two main characters particularly engaging -- or intelligent. Much of the plot hinges around a decision Larissa makes about how to solve a situation she is in -- and I couldn't help thinking that one would have to be really dimwitted to think the approach she decided on would work. It's hard to relate to a heroine who is dimwitted, and I found myself more interested in what the secondary characters were up to than what was going on with Larissa and Jack.

The book does have it's moments of humor and sweetness, but for me, something was missing.

If you enjoy Fool's Gold novels, then this is worth reading, with the understanding that it isn't a high point in the series. It's not terrible, just not great. And Susan Mallery a little off her game is still far better than most romance writers.

Susan's storytelling had me engrossed as usual and wishing I could so live in Fool's Gold! As anticipated, Jack and Larissa's story did not disappoint. Two kindred souls both giving individuals but holding back behind their fears; Larissa deeply involved and hands on in her causes and Jack providing support (financial and otherwise) for those causes. They have a unique friendship that suddenly takes a spin when Larissa's Mom lays it out there. You will experience a gamut of emotions...everything you love and expect from a Fool's Gold story. Enjoy!

As usual, Susan Mallery has written a great book that is romantic, funny and very entertaining! Fool's Gold comes to life in each successive trio of books. It is a town one would love to visit. As always, while reading Until We Touch, Susan Mallery's words create a movie playing in the reader's mind. Larissa's causes and Jack's support of them create laugh out loud situations. The supporting characters in the book add so much to the storyline. Getting pieces of the lives of the other people from previous books is very welcome. I eagerly look forward each summer to the next trio of books and the new people we will be introduced to and seeing how they adapt to life in Fool's Gold.

One knows what to expect with a Fool’s Gold book which is why they are so loved. There will be romance, misunderstandings, heartbreak and eventually a reconciliation and a happy ending. What keeps the stories interesting is each couple is unique. Viewing their personal growth and recovery from the heartbreak is always an uplifting experience.
Suffering from survivor’s guilt and abandonment issues Jack grows up to become an affable, handsome, generous playboy feeling unworthy of emotionally close relationships. Feeling responsible for her parents' loveless marriage Larissa loses herself in charitable causes to the point of having little life outside her job and volunteer activities. Coworkers and best friends Jack and Larissa balance each other never realizing their friendship is hiding deeper emotions they can not face.
Jack and Larissa embark on an affair to In a effort to "get over" the inconvenient attraction they can no longer ignore which leads to disaster. Each must resolve feelings about the past and their own self-worth before they can reach their full potential.
Many familiar Fool’s Gold characters from earlier novels and several interesting critters add interest and humor to the story.

I received an advance copy of this novel in return for an honest review.
