Delightful Surprise, February 12, 2000
This review is from: Until We Get It Right! (Audio CD)
With humor and harmony reminiscent of the orginal Limeliters, this album is a delightful surprise. The "Folk Rap" is a real knee-slapper. Long time fans will surely want to dust off their guitars and serenade friends with one or more of the lyrical songs. Topical laughs as well as a timeless sense of folk spirit make these original tunes worth many replays

It hasn't been out of my CD player since I got it, June 22, 2000
This review is from: Until We Get It Right! (Audio CD)
Take songs that are concerned with ecology, re-incarnation, religion, national pride, world peace, and sex. Mix well with humor, sarcasm, hope, and massive amounts of talent. Shake well and you have this studio album by the Limelighters. "Folk Rap", "Generic Uptempo Folk Song", and "God's Gift to Women" are only some of the humorous songs that sent me into hysterics. "Use it Up" is a very thought provoking bonanza of tongue-in-cheek ecological comments. Of course, not every song has to have a point to be enjoyable. "Harmony" is one of those jewels. I could reveiw each cut one by one and try to convince you that there is not a "throw away" cut on the whole album. The fact is that "folk" music is defined, again, by the Limeliters in this album.

Still as strong as ever!, April 7, 2003
This review is from: Until We Get It Right! (Audio CD)
I've always liked the Limeliters, but I didn't think they had anything newer that the 1980s out on CD...Since then, I have listened to it over and over. While Lou Gottlieb will always be missed, the music here is undimmed...There's so much good stuff here. "Generic Up-Tempo Folk Song" is a delight. "White Squall" is powerful and moving, and the group's rendition of Phil Och's "Power & Glory" is the best version of that fine song I've ever heard. "Harmony" remains a joy of audience participation, while the title track is hilarious, proving once again that the Limeliters, no matter what the incarnation, are the tops in mature, sophisticated folk humor. Enjoy!
