5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful Surprise
With humor and harmony reminiscent of the orginal Limeliters, this album is a delightful surprise. The "Folk Rap" is a real knee-slapper. Long time fans will surely want to dust off their guitars and serenade friends with one or more of the lyrical songs. Topical laughs as well as a timeless sense of folk spirit make these original tunes worth many replays

Take songs that are concerned with ecology, re-incarnation, religion, national pride, world peace, and sex. Mix well with humor, sarcasm, hope, and massive amounts of talent. Shake well and you have this studio album by the Limelighters. "Folk Rap", "Generic Uptempo Folk Song", and "God's Gift to Women" are only some of the humorous songs that sent me into hysterics. "Use it Up" is a very thought provoking bonanza of tongue-in-cheek ecological comments. Of course, not every song has to have a point to be enjoyable. "Harmony" is one of those jewels. I could reveiw each cut one by one and try to convince you that there is not a "throw away" cut on the whole album. The fact is that "folk" music is defined, again, by the Limeliters in this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still as strong as ever!, April 7, 2003

I've always liked the Limeliters, but I didn't think they had anything newer that the 1980s out on CD...Since then, I have listened to it over and over. While Lou Gottlieb will always be missed, the music here is undimmed...There's so much good stuff here. "Generic Up-Tempo Folk Song" is a delight. "White Squall" is powerful and moving, and the group's rendition of Phil Och's "Power & Glory" is the best version of that fine song I've ever heard. "Harmony" remains a joy of audience participation, while the title track is hilarious, proving once again that the Limeliters, no matter what the incarnation, are the tops in mature, sophisticated folk humor.

Enjoy!

I had been introduced to the Limeliters through one of their original recordings, so I was skeptical when it came to their new line-up. That was 10 years ago, and I've become a big fan of both variations. Their vocal range is amazing, and the selection is both fresh and traditional. Purists won't like this album, but if you like good folk music, you'll like this one. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars They really got it right!, August 27, 2005

I think this is the 4th generation of the Limeliters and quite a change from the initial trio with Glenn Yarbrough , Lou Gottlieb and Alex Hessilev, who is the only remaining member from the original group.

"Until We Get It Right" is not the usual Limeliters that I was so accustomed to and loved, so initially I felt disappointment, but by the time I got half way through this album I was hooked. Rick Dougherty has a wonderful range and adds a lot of energy to the group. This is particularly notable in the beautiful remdition of "Circles" and "A Place In the Choir".

I can't decide what my favorite song is on this album. "Harmony", "Circles", "Use it Up" and "A Place In the Choir" are all wonderful, not to mention "The Power and The Glory".

Although we all miss the humor of Lou Gottlieb, there's still plenty in this album. "God's Gift to Women", "Vasectomy" and "Until We Get It Right".

You can't go wrong with this album because this incarnation of The Limeliters really did get it righ!

5.0 out of 5 stars power is glory, October 17, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Until We Get It Right! (Audio CD)
From the surging power of Phil Och's "Power and Glory," to the humor of "Generic Uptempo Folksong," and the social awareness of "Use it Up," the Limeliters offer a rich mix of music well done. In this, they escape the mold of mere folk artists. They show their colors as musical artists with tremendous vocal power and a stunningly beautiful vocal blend.

Fans of the original Limeliters and their recordings should be clearly warned that these are not their old favourites-Lou, Glenn and Alex. This new "Limeliters" grouping may share the name, but that little else. This recording and group compares to the original Limeliters as Tang does to fresh orange juice.
