Change in band members,
By Steve Cruise (Toms Brook, VA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Untitled (Audio CD)
Ok, to start off I'd like to say that this album is great! One of my favorites. But I'm not here to review; I'd like to update everyone on the status on the band. They did have a change in the band members, I'm not sure about all of them but I know the lead singer has left. A couple (or maybe just one, or maybe 3?) other people/person left and the backup vocalist (who moved to lead) was replaced by his cousin. The have a new name: Burning Down, but DO NOT confuse them with the band at burningdown.com which is a radio friendly love song band (dunno what they're gonna do about the same name thing... but oh well) I'm not sure where, but it is possible to get a demo cd, they don't have a full one out yet. Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/fivepointe0 , there you will be able to find up-to-date information on this superb band :P Thanks everybody, now go join that group!! These guys need all the support they can get, going from an underground band to a completely new, underground one... which, if I heard correctly, is ever harder than Five Pointe O was. Can't wait to hear them for myself...

That's what I call music,

Don't pay too much attention to the small number of reviews written on the cd by this unique band; that happens time to time: a great music gets slightly unappreciated, and less known than really deserves. It's only a question of time (or production/promotion).The more important thing is the cd is one of the best of the recent times, i.e. for those surely who're into nu-metal, and all the rest of the heavy rock. Keyboards, guitars, and drums do a common work here perfectly, creating a complex, original, and highly impressive sound. Expressively heavy, at times experimentally unique, varying in tempo, this music is a level above what most of the modern nu-metal bands produce. The strong and highly diverse vocals complete the whole picture of the beautiful sound created by the talented band. Stand-outs are not that easily distinguishable, since most of the tracks are equally impressive and well-built. Double X Minus, King of The Hill, Freedom?, Sympathetic Climate Control, Untitled, Breathe Machine, and, finally, The Infinity, all of thes songs, being different, present a high quality musical work that the band can really be proud of. In short, that's not a pop-metal, that's a beautiful, serious, and professional work done by Five Pointe O. That's what we all can call MUSIC.

thrilling,

The depth and range of the melody in these songs took me completely by surprise. Five Pointe O seamlessly blends several different styles of heavy metal together to make one thrilling melody driven album. Sometimes the singing is reminiscent of Mike Patton, and the screaming, or growling sounds like many of the death metal vocalists. All in all, this album is refreshing on many different levels. Those who want their metal straightforward and simplistic, this one is not for you. Five Pointe O is definitely one of the best of the so-called nu-metal bands. Looking forward to hearing what's next.

agressive passion,

this band, five pointe o., knows what they are doing. The screaming vocals to the melodic keyboards, five pointe o., is all around, every song on this album is it's own, the infinity, being more of a so to say, thrash metal w/ the double guitars and bass kick, to inspire, aspire, being so melodic, to the ever-hardcore sounding track, untitled. I first heard five pointe o off of a MMUSA promotion, went and d/l'd the infity two minutes later, and a week passes, and i have the cd blaring from my car. If ur into GOOD metal bands, killswitch engage, fear factory, ill nino, etc. this will complete your collection. Five pointe o is here to stay, even though they are looking for new vocals and guitars ...and no matter who comes and goes, five pointe o has come to stay.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Untitled (Audio CD)
1st of all,i'm no kid...i'm just lazy to register and stuff. anywayz,i first heard five pointe o on the resident evil soundtrack, with their song "the infinity". it just blew me away. then,i d/loaded "king of the hill" off the net...and i was even impressed. i rushed and bought the cd. do i regret it? HELL NO! five pointe o are here to stay. they are superb.forget slipknot, this band kicks...the shouts, the growls, the whispers...all blend in to make a wonderful record. somewhere along the way, slipknot forgot good music. don't get me wrong...slipknot's talented, especially corey taylor, the vocalist...but it just doesn't sound right. where slipknot failed, five pointe o has picked up. this young group offers so much more and seem more matured than slipknot and a lot of other groups out there. i really have high hopes for this band...seriously. plz ppl,juz take the time to listen to this album, you sure as hell ain't gonna regret it.

Nearly as incredible as their live show.,
By
This review is from: Untitled (Audio CD)
I've had this cd since their April 2nd show in Louisville with Mushroomhead and they were incredible. Hands down one of the best live shows/cds I've had the pleasure of hearing. Their vocals are varied(death meatal growls, Deftones-esque screams, and Mike Patton inspired singing.) but extremely potent. The vocal assault of the guitar player contrasts with the singer perfectly. The guitar riffing is top notch and the keyboard and piano work is actually done tastefully, adding a dimension to their sound that is uncommon and incredible. The bassist and drummer are exceptional, far better than many of todays more commercially successfull bands to boot. Tracks 1.(Double Minus X) 2.(King of the Hill) and 10.(The Infinity)<my favorite> are very well done. After a few spins track 8.,Syndrome Down, became a a favorite as well. But nearly every song on the cd is a gem in its own right. Fans of Flaw, Tomahawk, Deftones, Mudvayne, OneSideZero and Lifer may enjoy this band a great deal.

An extremely original nu-metal disc...,
By Arnold M Hablewitz (Machseney Park, IL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Untitled (Audio CD)
Joliet, IL is now firmly on the map thanks to this 6-piece. If you want a band that sticks to the basic nu-metal formula yet adds so much rich texture and colorful riffing like that you would never hear from a nu-metal band, then this is your release. Imagine the power and aggression of say, Sevendust or Deftones, but add in the eclectic mixture of Faith No More and the versatility of Mushroomhead (without the goofy gimmicks), and that might come close to what you have here.

IF you like raw music....buy it now,
By A Customer
This review is from: Untitled (Audio CD)
Look there is no competition, I've been goin to all their shows since my freshman year in high school and each one has been raw as hell. They are real hardcore metal with talent and melody. When they got signed to Roadrunner, me and my friends all were happy for them because this is a truly deserving band. Support them all the way and buy this album. They are a bunch of talented kids who have gotten this far by their talent and no coporation or some rich parents paying their way like 99% of todays music. This is real metal....buy it now

at times dizzyingly intense, but madly uneven,
By TheJukeboxLoser "darren" (jersey) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Untitled (Audio CD)
Five pointe o when thye came out with their lone cd back in 2002 it gave one last glimmering light for nu-metal which by the then was almost dead. The albums manages to blend many combinations of nu-metal, hardcore punk, and synthcore. ITs showcased into at times catastrophic heights on cuts like the "infinity" and "double X minus". but what fails them to keep the torch going is the lack focus. the arrnagments are madly uneven as is the spazy Zach Dela Rocha-eque front man, spitting out political and mythical-eque lyrics. The keyboards do a nice job to the chaotic mess adding atmospherics and histronics. but the songs never get heavy or intense enough. Thr riffage isnt pactiaulrly memorable although sometimes it works righton tracks like "art of cope" and "syndrome down" and on the aforementioned "infinity". IT was an interesting arch at the time of its release but looking at it now far more talented bands have come in there wake. It was an earnest atemtp at the time but it looks dated and tiny to look at it today
