Yes, the Champs' comparisons are accurate.,
By The Dann "dlb714" (Boston) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Untitled (Audio CD)
The other reviewers here draw parallels between the F*cking Champs and Hematovore, and it's a fair comparison. Both bands have that metallic, mathy sound. Both bands play it instrumental. One difference is that Hematovore does not include those moody synth pieces that cleave Champs albums. So if you've heard the Champs, you already have a good idea on what you're getting here: crunchy, driving, anthemic riffs. Hematovore executes it with aplomb and style; "Arachnophilia" is an 8-minute masterpiece, a collection of catchy riffs whose cumulate impact exceeds the sum of the parts. Not everything on this album works, hence the 4 out of 5: a few moments late in the album devolve into over-sludgy down-tempo blocks of sound with little momentum. But there's still plenty here to keep a Champs fan [who has been waiting since 2002 for a new album] satisfied.

this album will surprise you. if you usually cringe at the sound of the word "metal" then you need to take a closer look. this cd can really only be appreciated if you have some time to listen. if you do [take the time] i really think you're going to love this. and you'll have the satisfaction of knowing you've discovered something completely unique.

Greatest Band you have never heard of!!!!!!!,
This review is from: Untitled (Audio CD)
Yes, you read that correctly....THE GREATEST....These guys were mainstays of the Auburn Alabama music scene from the time I was driving and are still going strong...Ask anyone who went to Auburn during the 1990's and they will tell you the same thing...It doesnt get any better...Deathmetal, Jazz, Surf, Prog...instrumental fussion....Sounds lame doesnt it?...Well they make it work...PUNKS and Metalheads alike fall in love with them whenever they are first exposed...This is their 3rd CD and there are god knows how many demo cassettes floating around out there....buy it...love it....rock your balls off to the odd time signatures and 3 guitar attack of HEMATOVORE!!!!
