5.0 out of 5 stars Game is a PROBLEM!!!
This is Game's work before the deal with Aftermath Entertainment. But even back then you can hear his hunger and passion for hip hop. I got a lot of respect for Game because he isn't just a rapper...he is a lyricist. You can tell that he is conscious of every line he spits. Game is the best new artist to debut in a long time and he definitely has what it takes to...

3.0 out of 5 stars The Game- Untold Story, December 29, 2004
This review is from: Untold Story (Audio CD)
The Game (Aka Jayceon Taylor) "Untold Story" (2004) was quietly released several months ago. Since that time Compton's Game a member of G-Unit has been gaining major attention in the commercial Hip Hop world popping up everywhere, his highly anticipated upcoming album "The Documentary" is going to be released in three weeks. His single with 50 Cent "How We Do" has been exploding on the Hip Hop charts, and Game's mixtape tape solos and collaborations with a wide variety of Rappers has the industry buzzing. All that said its time to get into a description of this release, "Untold Story" really has a different sounding Game, and completely lacks the premium Aftermath production, which will be part of the new album. I think its fair that people who are going to buy this know the above, that way they don't end up disappointed. Guest appearances come from JT the Bigga Figga (who executive produced this), Sean T, Blue Chip, San Quinn, Telly Mac, Young Noble and the Get Low Playaz. Standouts for me are "Im Looking" feat. Blue Chip, "Real Gangstaz" and Don't Cry" feat. Blue Chip, which is a deep track where Game talks about his son. One of the album's most grimy tracks "Compton Compton" closes the album off well. Having followed Game closely over recent months I have to honestly say this material is second rate compared to what's to come. Unless your a massive Game fan and want all his material I recommend skipping the "Untold Story" and waiting for the "The Documentary" (2005) which is going to be an album worth buying.

Game is the best new artist to debut in a long time and he definitely has what it takes to become a legend as far as I'm concerned. Plus on top of that he is a VICIOUS battle MC too. Sort of reminds me of a new Ice Cube...

4.0 out of 5 stars This was recorded in 2002 before Game was with Aftermath., December 14, 2004
This review is from: Untold Story (Audio CD)
For all of you who think this is the Game's debut album, think again. You will get no production from Dr. Dre and the album will not feature anyone from G-Unit. Bay area rapper JT the Bigga Figga got with the Game in 2002 and recorded these songs which were never released. Soon afterward Game signed with Aftermath and Dr. Dre molded him into what he is now, the most anticipated rapper to come out this year, just like he did with Snoop, Eminem, and 50 Cent. On this album Game sounds a lot like Shyne. Now he sounds nothing like Shyne. Untold Story is just a preview to Game's January debut of The Documentary on G-Unit/Aftermath Records. Untold Story is underground and it sounds like it. The production is decent and the lyrics are good. Game's flow has grown in leaps and bounds in the past two years, but he still outshines all of the featured artists on this album. Check it out just to get a preview of what is to come, but essentially what Untold Story does is give JT the Bigga Figga and Get Low Records a chance to capitalize on the buzz of the Game. No, the Game did not authorize the release of this album, but yes, he is getting paid for it.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Game - Untold Story, May 26, 2006
This review is from: Untold Story (Audio CD)
Album came out before Game was in the Aftermath and spittin with all the people he does now. He sounds a lot different than he does on his new sh*t or different than he does on his "Documentary" album. Let me explain my thoughts on this album.

The lyrics, The Game raps about the same stuff that he does pretty much now. He isnt the only one that raps on the album. Theres other underground cats that spit on the album that got some decent verses here and there. But Game shows what he wants and spits his sh*t quite well. But I think hes better now. But if your a true Game fan you need to check his style on this one.

Production wise, I think that the production on here was better than "Documentary". Well maybe not better but I like it more. They sound more West Coast and there is alot more bangers. "Documentary" almost sounded East Coast, lmao. This album definately more West Coast vibes to it. So if you like that West sound, this album comes with it. But every beat gots potential in it.

Overall, a pretty good release from The Game. I'd rather listen to this than the Documentary though.

My Top 5 Songs
1.Neighborhood Supa Star
2.Im Lookin
3.Real Gangstaz
4.G.A.M.E
5.Who Is The Illest

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Cd... better than I expected, February 26, 2006
This review is from: Untold Story (Audio CD)
This underground album is a solid release. There are only 4 songs that aren't good, one being a good song with a terrible chorus (see Don't Cry). The best songs are Compton 2 Fillmore, G.A.M.E., Cali Boyz & Compton Compton. Every song after G.A.M.E. is a solid track worth at least 4/5. He really puts it down here for the west coast and it would have been better without so many featured artists (the only good ones are JT Young Noble & Blue Chip). Definately pick this up if you like his newer stuff otherwise get that first.

5.0 out of 5 stars A warm up for the Documentary..., June 19, 2005
This review is from: Untold Story (Audio CD)
1st off i heard this album way before i heard the Documentary album by the game. I listen to Bay Area rap and the Bay Area has been holding it down out here for a long time with good bangin' beats and good flows.

A lot of people who wrote reviews for this album are used to COMMERCIAL rap. They like all of the radio play that is associated with "rap". This album is the way that rap is supposed to sound, none of these rappers are getting paid off of this album so its more raw sounding, the way rap is supposed to sound. This album is not your commercial poppin bottles crystile, or jumpin around iin air force ones, but gang bangin and drinkin forty ouncers of Old E. Gangsta.

This album has great beats and pretty good production from JT the Bigga Figga. Good guest artists from the bay area include San Quinn, and the Get Low Ridaz make this album a must have for those who like to hear good stuff.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Lyrics...Beats Sound all the same., January 20, 2005

If it weren't for the beats....this would be a great album. However, The Game shows that he has talent. "NeighborHood Supa Star" is the best song in my opinion. Hopefully, his national debut under Dr. Dre's label is better. GG-GG-GG-Unit!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Buy, November 18, 2004
This review is from: Untold Story (Audio CD)
The CD is really well produced.... the beats are awesome and the raps are tight, but there isnt really much of the game on it. It's more of an attempt by the producer to use his recent fame to sell some CD's. But non the less its a good CD id recommend it.
