5.0 out of 5 stars what a fantastic anthology!, February 1, 1999
By A Customer
This great anthology covers most of Spidey's career. The best story is "The Stalking of John Doe" by Adam-Troy Castro, which is one of the best Spider-Man stories ever written anywhere. You should buy this book just so you can read this story. Also really really good are the stories are by Tom DeFalco (who captures the early Spidey perfectly), Christopher Golden & Jose R. Nieto (great look at the Spidey/Torch relationship), John Garcia & Pierce Askegren (just a fun adventure story), Michael Jan Friedman (killer ending!), Ann Nocenti (deals with issues the comics _never_ deal with), Ken Grobe & Steven A. Roman (hilarious!), and Keith R.A. DeCandido (best Doc Ock story _ever_). The other stories are OK, too -- the only ones that really stink are Danny Fingeroth's stupid "The Doctor's Dilemma" and Glenn Greenberg's overwritten "Poison in the Soul."

5.0 out of 5 stars An astonishing book for all ages, December 14, 1997
This book includes 15 different Spider-Man adventures. Each one with an astonishing villian and great storyline. Below I have listed the Title, my grade for the story, and a summary. Side by Side With the Astonishing Ant Man- B, This story takes place in fairly old Spider-Man comics and basically Manhatten is confronted with a giant spider inwhitch is latter found to be a machine and since Spider-Man has a bad reputation the Ant Man thinks he is behind it and accidentaly shrinks Spidey. To find out how he gets out of this you must read it. After the First Death- A-, Spider-Man stops a usual robbery but it then turns into something more. One of the two crooks ramed his brother of the ladge of the bank for years of neglect which sent him to his death. Spider-Man of course got blammed for this and police had a shoot first ask questions warrant on him. To find out how he gets out of this one read the book. Celebrity- C+, A villain know as the SandMan is leading a normal life and eating at a fancy resturaut whith his date when the Human Torch shows up. The Sandman's is so preoccupied with the Torch that the Sandman gets agrivated and attacks the torch. Spider-Man shows up and him and the Torch must duke it out with this shap shifting monster or die trying. Better Looting Through Modern Chemestry- A, A "reformed" crinimal known as the Looter is freed from jail but not much latter he once again breaks open a meteor and in hails the fumes inside which turn him into the Looter and goes on and briliant schem to steal a huge meteor. Read the book to find out what happens when Spidey gets involved. Identity Crisis- B-, The Green Goblin makes a short lasting attempt to find out who Spider-Man is underneth his mask. The Doctors Dilema- C+, Peter Paker is confronted by his aunts doctor and is ofered a safe lob at a lab but soon after a new crinimal shows up calling himself Impact. See how Spidey deals with this one. Moving Day- B, Peter Parker is moving out of his birth home into an apartment with his friends. While his aunt is riding with the moving man Peter confronts Mysterio as Spider-Man right infront of His aunt. Find out what happens. The Liar- B-, Peter is going out with two girls and taking his aunt shopping all in three hours. During his date the Vulture shows up for a fight. Find out how he deals with that and stays on eneryones good side. Deadly Force- A, A very powerful serial killer tortures young blond wemen and discardes them on the streets like garbage. Spidey confronts him and is beaten. He believes he should cut loose on the Ripper and if he must kill him than so be it. See what happens with Spideys new method of handleing the Ripper in Deadly Force. The Ballad of Fancy Dan- A-, A young boy is kidnapped by his own step father and Spider-Man and Fancy Dan are the only ones able to do anything. Read the book, see what happens. Poison in the Soul- B+, When a young man takes his life the Shocker breaks out of prison for a simple attempt to pay his respects to the dead boy. See what Spider-Man does with the Shocker. Livewires- A-, Electro is being experimented on when he finally broke free and took E.S.U. hostage. Find out how Spidey cleans up this mess. Arms and the Man- C, A biographer tries to write a biography on Dr. Otto Octavious also known as Doctor Octopus. Well Doc Ock isn't very happy with this and spidey tries to help. Find out what happens in Arms and the Man. My Enemy My Savior- B-, J. Jonah Jameson is put in a Spider Slayer robot and sent to kill Spider-Man. Can spidey save himself and J.J. in time. The Stalking of John Doe- A+++, This is an excllent story about a man who's name is never reavealed is admitted to a siciatric care unit but his super human strength over comes all their deffense and then the hunter shows up for an awsome batal throughout the ward. Read the book to reaveal who John Doe is and what happens to him. Again I believe one word sums up this book Awsome. Thisa is a must read book for any Spidey fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars ONE OF THE BEST, November 8, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Untold Tales of Spider-Man (Paperback)
THIS WAS A ONE OF A KIND BOOK. THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS, MARVEL PUTS OUT A GREAT BOOK, & THEN "BAM", GOES & CANCELLS IT TO PUT OUT SOMETHING WORSE. PEOPLE WOULD RATHER SEE SPIDEYS UNTOLD ADVENTURES THAN HIM TEAM UP WITH HAS BEENS EVERY MONTH, ESPECIALLY AT AN INCREASED COST. UNTOLD COSTS .99 YET MARVEL TEAM UP COSTS 1.99, WHY IS THAT?
