I listen to tons of music and purchase many cds. Alot of the cds I buy have a few goods songs at best on them. Every once in awhile a cd will come along that I just cannot take out of my cd player. This is one of those cds. For fans of Underoath "They're only chasing saftey", Stutterfly, Secret and Whisper, and other Emo-hardcore christian bands, get it now!

This is one of my fav cds of all time. I think the fact that they don't fit their genre makes it special. It's bass heavy with screams but not exactly hard which makes it cool. I liked this Cd, I miss the band and I hate that the fanbase didn't really support them because they weren't heavy like The Devil Wears Prada or August Burns Red. It's a great CD with lots of vision that Christians and non Christians can enjoy.

This review is from: The Unveiling (Audio CD)
I have been reviewing albums for several years now. In college I was an A&E writer for the newspaper and have heard more than my fair share of mediocracy. Now, that being said, Cry of the Afflicted stands out. Being a Christian band, I was half expecting the music to be lackluster, and the lyrics to be a non-stop praise fest. I couldn't have been more off. "The Unveiling" is a non-stop in your face explosion of sound and energy. The guitar work and drumming is unstoppable, and comparable to Secret and Whisper or (TTN) Saosin. Vocally the group mixes scream and non-scream well. The balance is much better than Underoath, who at times feel like they are overdoing it a bit.The album doesn't shy from their religious conotations. The lyrics flow well across the musical tapestry, and regularly will dip down to give us a nice uplifting message centered around Jesus' teachings. This is not to say that the album is preachy or overly Chrsitian. The CD overall is more of a positive message album, rather than a God-worshiping album. If you're looking for the former, this is a great album. If you're looking for the latter, you might be happy with the effort. My advice, get it...whether you're a christian music lover or not. The power and intensity of the music is enough for anyone, while the upligting message will help brighten your day.
