This book a is first hand account of the thought process and perspective of life as a schizophrenic. The 50 page story is an honest account of what it is like to be mentally ill and the author's struggle to try to have as normal life as possible.

Dianne Nelson wrote this book to help others understand her illness. I applaud her character and willingness to put her life under the microscope for the benefit of others.

I recommend this book to people suffering from this disorder as well as their families, medical personnel, and students studying these types of illnesses.

This is a book that shows incredible courage. Dianne Goes from the first day she became ill and explains her life up until she recovers enough to live a somewhat normal life. I think this is a good book for not only those that suffer from Schizophrenia but for anyone that wants to understand this illness or help a loved one. I hope Dianne writes more books as I'm eager to read more of her work. This book should be a top seller and made into a movie as it is very interesting and would help teach and inspire many people.

I am a therapist who works primarily with people diagnosed with schizophrenia. I want to thank the Author for an insight and articulate account of living with schizophrenia. Lots of little jems of wisdom that she passes on to those who live with this illness and also for those who know and/or work with people with this illness. On top of all that, it is a quick fun, interesting read that I think other will enjoy too.

Dianne Nelson passed away this April from a heart attack. She was only 46 years old.

She was not a writer, and the book had no editor, so the writing is not always of the highest quality. So why do I give it five stars? I am the mother of a son who has been diagnosed with schizophrenia for 22 years. I have read many books on the subject, including those by psychiatrists, psychologists, loved ones of people suffering from schizophrenia and sufferers themselves. Some of them were very helpful to me, some were not. To me Dianne's book is the very best of the lot for loved ones of someone who has schizophrenia.

One of the difficulties parents and other loved ones have is understanding and accepting the absolute reality of the psychotic experiences a sufferer endures. They are not some kind of flight of fancy, the experience is totally real. So is the accompanying emotion, be it a feeling of discovery, even joy, or more commonly fear of perceived enemies and an all consuming terror. To me, Dianne makes this come alive, and it is very moving. One can almost feel her fear.

There are other valuable things here as well, but I am limiting this to the above because it is extremely important. The rest of the book is important also.

Thank you, Dianne. Rest in peace.
