Book Description

His heart was made of ice...
Born a nameless bastard into the Berserker horde, Finn is the measure of strength, ferocity, and brutality at the Temple of Freya. Sent to the Highlands bent on revenge and murder, he stumbles on an infant deserted in the snow. What he chooses next may seal his fate.

Her life was cold and empty...
Rhona McEwan has lost everything. Her husband, her child, and soon she fears she must relinquish her dignity in order to survive the bitter Highland winter. When the most fearsome, mysterious, and breathtaking man seeks the help she can give to the child in his arms, she's unable to turn them away. Even though she's not certain he's entirely human.

Three of the world's Unwanted...
On a snowy Solstice night during the magical Yuletide season, their need for each other may alter their destines forever.

In the third installment of the best-selling Highland Historical Series, Kerrigan Byrne weaves a tale of blood and vengeance, of love, redemption, and the bonds that make a family.

Review

"Kerrigan Byrne is one author to watch and to read.  I think this book is my favorite of the series.  The writing is pure poetry and the story one of family and love... and so cleverly written.  I highly recommend this book."
~ Tiffinie Helmer, bestselling author of 'Wild Men of Alaska'

"I am really intrigued with the paranormal element of the Berserker. I can't wait to learn more in the future...  I recommend this book to anyone who loves historical romance, especially with Highlander and Celtic heritage."
 ~ A Date With a Book Review

"Each book that I read by Kerrigan Byrne the more I love, she is a rising star that I know I am going to keep in my sites... She just has this way of writing that is part lyrical, part humor and all passionate and it's a combination I cannot resist."

From the Author

Though my family is predominantly Irish, I've found a myriad of Scottish and Highland blood in my ancestry.  Something about Scotland, particularly the Highlands and their rich and romantic history has always inspired something wild and primal in my heart.

A hearty THANK YOU to everyone for enjoying with me!
Go Raibh Maith Agat!

5.0 out of 5 stars Captivating and Magical!! October 16, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Rating: 5 Stars

I fell in love with Kerrigan's writing while reading her first novella Unspoken. I knew right away that I found a new favorite author.

Kerrigan's writing is amazing. This new novella is magical and enchanting. Being a holiday story made it even more special.
Like the quote says on the cover this story really is captivating and phenomenal.

Her characters are always so powerful and intriguing. She really writes unforgettable characters that you will always remember . They will forever still with me.

This story had so much passion and emotion. I felt as if I was in the story. Her details are vivid and the love scenes were smoking HOT!

Finn, a brawny handsome beserker on a mission ends up having to take a unexpected side trip that will forever change his life.

Rhona, a beautiful widow who has been through so much. She has nothing and is alone until she hears a knock at her door. She never would of expected who waited on the other side.

Kerrigan's stories are unique and like nothing I have ever come across before.

This story had a great twist to it. I was so glad we got to read more about the characters in her first 2 novellas, it made the story even better.

This story was very well written. A total page turner you wont want to put down. It's a must read! You will NOT be disappointed.

Ladies and gents. I won't do premise, you already know. With #1UNSPOKEN,it grabbed me in all the right places.(those who know me understand that remark. #2.UNWILLING.If memory serves me right..I think that's the one that had BOB starting to act on the fritz.(to those of you who don't know me..you now understand the first comment! And now we get to #3UNWANTED..WE ASKED AND SHE FREGGIN DELIVERED..BIG FLIPPIN TIME!!!I am gonna pull a little 'braggin rights here',"I said in one of the first two reviews something about 'move over KarenMarieMoning,Lisa Kleypas, et al" and all those other top drawer, first rate, etc.,etc.,authors more over here comes Kerrigan..and went on to say that the next generation of anything is always better then the first, that does not take away anything from anybody..it just adds to the next generation. And we are the winners. Most, if not all, had really only 1 complaint..they were too short! I'm a first rate glutton, admitedly so (among other things, that I also make no apology for) BUT..BUT if experience counts for anything, well ladies and gents..heres your insider info..my experience guarantees yes I said 'guarantees' you will me more then delighted, satisfied, satiated (never could spell that dam word,...ok you will not be left wanting..anything..SHE DELIVERED, more story, more and wonderfully scripted sex, romance was a given, fleshed out sounds soo professional, she got the dam thing soo right!! And for the big finish..I DON'T DO SPOILERS..BUT THE H AND h ARE GONNA BLOW YOUR SOCKS OFF!!!AND I DOUBLE DOG DARE EVERYONE TO REFUTE THAT STATEMENT AFTER YOU FINISH THE BOOK.Some may accuse me of being a hard bitten old 'so and so' guess what...they're right.(retired 30+ yrs. bluecoller bartender)I am a woman. This book was sooo good. Oh my goodness, I think it's my favorite of the series. Finn and Rhona were so fleshed out, they were real. The writing was sure poetry and the story one of family and love and Christmas, and so cleverly written. This is a hot read with lost of berskerness and steaminess. Love it! Kerrigan Bryne is one author to watch and read. I highly recommend this book.

2.0 out of 5 stars All about the sex May 14, 2013

This book was all about the Intimate scenes with very little depth in the plot or characters. I would not read this one again or others by the author.

3.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable and Steamy (B Grade) November 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Unwanted is a combination medieval romance with a touch of the supernatural, in the case of the hero who is a Berserker. This is the third book in the Highland Historical series, but I wasn't lost by not reading the first two books. Finn is pretty much a loner who is sent on a mission to assassinate who he believes is his enemy. In the cold winter, he finds a newborn left out in the woods to die. He goes to Rhona, who can barely makes ends meet as a type of midwife who breastfeeds newborn babies of the village she's in. Rhona has had a harsh life. Her husband died and then her baby. She was also gang raped and left for dead. She's close to sell her body for firewood when Finn comes to her with the baby. They connect and Finn wants one night with Rhona. He's willing to pay her for her body and Rhona makes the decision to accept Finn.

Finn has only slept with whores and never had the love of a woman. He also can't kiss a woman because if he does, he may mate with her per his species. Rhona expects Finn to use her body for his own, but he gives her pleasure, great pleasure she has never experienced. The night together becomes more and Finn wants to keep Rhona and protect her. But then the lady of the manor needs her help with her pregnancy and Finn finds out the mission he was sent on means his own death. But Finn is in for a shock because the men he was sent out to kill are connected to him in more ways than one.

Unwanted wasn't that bad of a story. I was really impressed. It was well written and the first love scene between Finn and Rhona is hot, especially when Finn literally gets on his knees and worships Rhona is a special way with his tongue and mouth, if you get my drift.

More About the Author

Kerrigan has done many things to pay the bills, from law enforcement to belly dance instructor. Now she's finally able to have the career she'd decided upon at thirteen when she announced to her very skeptical family that she was going to "grow up to be a romance novelist." Whether she's writing about Celtic Druids, Victorian bad boys, or brash Irish FBI Agents, Kerrigan uses her borderline-obsessive passion for history, her extensive Celtic ancestry, and her love of Shakespeare in almost every story.

She lives at the base of the Rocky Mountains with her handsome husband and three lovely teenage girls, but dreams of settling on the Pacific Coast.
