Christians coping with clinical depression and other mood disorders can seek "the blessing in the blues" through this little manual written by a licensed counselor.
Carl Geo. Austin is a native of Port Clinton, Ohio. He has an M.A. degree in Experimental Psychology from New Mexico State University (1967). He is currently a Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor in private practice. He completed a clinical internship with the Illinois Dept of Mental Health in 1969. In his professional career he has worked in a wide variety of settings: community mental health centers, hospital based substance abuse programs, partial hospitalization programs, a pain management clinic, etc.
However, it is writing, traveling and engaging in ministry that is his real passion. He has gone to the Dominican Republic, Cuba and Spain on church mission trips. He also spent two weeks in Texas as a Red Cross volunteer post Rita/Katrina in 2005. These experiences and others having to do with his spiritual journey are recorded in "DiosPsyTrek." This book, his third, is about God's economy and about how God calls us into realationship with Him thru our life experiences. His first book "The Unwelcome Blessing" is about coping with depression and has been his best selling book. His other two books "Satan's Top Ten Tricks" and "Jesus v. Satan: The Message of the Wilderness Tempations" fall into the category of spiritual warfare. These books demostrate that Satan's presence is most experienced as a voice in ones thoughts and it is there, with Jesus' help, that he is defeated.
Mr. Austin has been active in various ministries at Northland--A Church Distributed over the past 17 years. Northland is located in the Orlando area.
