I first heard this album this morning when a local dj reviewed it. I immediately went out to purchase it. In fact, I waited almost an hour (along with about 20 other people) in a record store for a sales rep to return with more copies.

This is a great fusion of jazz and hip hop. My favorites on the CD are "Crush on You" and "Forgot About Dre". Karen Briggs plays a mean violin.

I can't wait for Volume II to come out!

This is one of the best gifts that I received in a LONG time!! I was really wary of what it had to offer because I was judging this 'book' by its cover. After I listened to it I was pleasantly surprised at its selections. I love how they have taken rap music and created a sound that is harmonious to all!! I am a middle school teacher and I play it during class and the students actually like it! On days when they know that they are going to do seatwork, they will almost beg me to play it while they work. This is a good tool for good behavior and it was a good buy.

I first heard of this CD from a local radio DJ whom sweared this was HOT so I went out and got it. I was kind of dissapointed at first and then the CD grew on me. What I like most about this CD is it's different. They took Hip-hop songs, re-made them into smooth jazz and did a pretty good job of making some of the songs sound good. I like smooth jazz but some of these songs didn't need to be re-made in this format.

My favorite songs on this album is the Lil Kim remake of "Crush On You" and LL Cool J's "Lougin'".

It was truly a great effort and I would love to see what they come up with next.

I picked up thi CD about 4 months ago, after my brother had got an advance copy of it and let me hear it. It's a pretty cool idea of a whole album of popular rap songs being re-done in a jazz, be-bop format. There are a couple of songs which i would have eliminated, and can think of a few other hip-hop songs that would have sounded real good with a new jazz arrangement to take their place.

Overall the cd is definitely worth picking up, and i totally agree with some of the other reviewers, who have talked about the lack of promotion on this album. I've been playing this album 4 months now, and our local radio station is just now playing the "So fresh, So clean" version heard here on this album. There was no promotion at all for its pre-release.
I work at a Record store, and i have asked certain customers if they were familiar with this album, and no-one knows what the hell i'm talking about. But, I have turned people on to it, and have gotten just a few more sales for this CD. Check it out!!!!

I heard this CD a few weeks ago at a party and have recommended it to all my friends. My only gripe is it isn't being marketed properly. Everyone I know who likes this CD didn't hear about it on the radio..it's been strictly on the word-of-mouth tip which doesn't exactly boost sales. I absolutely love the fusion of hip-hop and jazz since I love both.

Rarely do I hear a CD where I love every song but this one is it!! A must-have for hip-hop and jazz fans.

On the strength of the many positive reviews I've read about this album, I went out and purchased it. And after I popped it into my car cd player, I just couldnt stop smiling or stop my head from nodding. Though I am not necessarily a smooth jazz fan, when it's done with a touch of Hip Hop, then I'm all ears. I look forward to Volume 2.

If you love Hip Hop and you like Jazz.....here is the bridge between the two. Steve McKeever....former U of I. Grad....where is the marketing and Promotion bugdet for this? I know personnally I help sell about 20 copies, just by telling people. Let the world know this is out there. Patrice Rushen, on the Vibes, keys and everything else...I love you. You all better let people know about this, before Master P puts out is version.

OVERALL.....This is the BEST Hip Hop album of 2001.

I can listen to this anywhere at anytime. I play it to calm down my students at the beginning of the period. Even though the songs are popular ones, they can hear and enjoy the melodies. They actually liked them. I also listen to this on long drives. I have volume two as well. They must be in your collection!

This is a refreshing and entertaining mixture of Jazz & Hip-Hop that simply could not have been done better.

I purchased the CD along with Red Star Sounds - Vol. 1. I love them both, but the Hidden Beach Unplugged is one of the best CDs I have ever purchased. I would highly recommend it to livers of R&B and Jazz. The combination of the popular R&B and the smoth Jazz tones is definately a gold mind.
