entertaining contemporary romance, December 14, 2005
This review is from: Bravo Unwrapped (Signature Select) (Mass Market Paperback)
Alpha magazine features editor B.J. Carlyle is stunned when she finds out they no longer have the Christmas cover story as the popular Wise Brothers broke up. Meanwhile their competitor TopMale prints an unflattering article about her being a Manhattan man-eater. Her father, who owns Alpha, tells her he has the answer to her problems of lacking the feature article, a bio on writer Buck Bravo the man she fears to love and by the way is carrying his baby though no one knows this. Though capable of authoring a bio, Buck insists that B.J. write the article by spending two weeks on his family property, the Sierra Star B&B. His agenda is simple; he made an error six years ago when he failed to follow up once a frightened B.J. rejected his proposal. When she caught with someone else soon afterward he knew he destroyed his life. When he finally coaxed her back in his bed two months ago, Buck regained hope, but now he has to persuade his beloved he will remain faithful, loyal, and loving forever. BRAVO UNWRAPPED is an entertaining contemporary romance starring a likable hero and a woman who fears commitment. Buck believes that he needs to take charge of the situation if he is to persuade his beloved they belong together that is before he knows she is pregnant. Thus he forces her onto his home field where she can see how much he loves his mother and siblings. Still he realizes the key remains bucking her belief that he will cheat on her and that she owes her father by proving her worth to him. Though the obstinacy of B.J. can become wearying, readers and her father will root for Buck to succeed Harriet Klausner

This review is from: Bravo Unwrapped (Signature Select) (Mass Market Paperback)
After all these years she has to meet Buck Bravo again and end up in his bed IT must have been all those Manhattans. To top it all off she's pregnant now and so sick! B.J. Carlyle is the features editor on her father's Mens magazine *Alpha*. The planned feature has fallen through -- the musical group has brokeup! L.T. Carlyle demands she come to dinner after learning of this. B.J. is still sick even though it's evening. L.T. has the perfect new feature for her -- Buck Bravo the best-selling author. Buck insists that she come to his home town with thim. L.T. sends them in his jet to Reno, NV then they drive west to New Bethlehem Flat, CA it's only an hour's drive but what a different world! Buck's mother, Chastity, is the owner of the town's Bed & Breakfast -- Sierra Star. Buck wants to show B.J. where he came from and what made him be what he is. It's a small town Buck's friends and family open their arms to B.J. and slowly she's seduced by Buck but she can't tell him about the baby. They get called back to NYC and B.J. must make some decisions before she can go to Buck with an open heart. Buck, B.J. and her father L.T. Carlyle are just a little larger than life but with Ms Rimmer's style she makes them fun and loveable. Very entertaining Signature Select from Harlequin. Bonus features and interview with Ms Rimmer and lots of Bravo history along with a sneak peek of the next Bravo SSE -- BRAVO FAMILY WAY.

Unwrap another fun episode in the Bravo family saga!, February 23, 2007
This review is from: Bravo Unwrapped (Signature Select) (Mass Market Paperback)
B. J. Carlyle works as a features editor of Alpha magazine. With her father as the publisher as well as editor-in-chief, B. J. works very hard to prove herself to prepare for when L.T. finally hands the editor-in-chief position over to her. Only now, she's single, pregnant, and the December cover story has fallen apart. Buck Bravo is a man on a mission. Getting B. J. back in his life is one of his top priorities. He'd messed up their relationship six years earlier and now wants her back. With Alpha's cover story falling through, Buck sees his opportunity and latches on, he'll agree to be the cover story, but only if B. J. has to spend two weeks with him and write the story herself. Already suffering from morning sickness, B. J. drags herself out of bed and to the office only to be besieged with bad news. Her latest ex-boyfriend, Wyatt, wrote a story that's been published in a competing magazine titled "Manhattan Man-Eater. That he is referring to her in the article is blatantly obvious. Alpha's planned cover story has been called off, and nobody can come up with a good story for the December issue. Her father, L. T. has a cover story idea, but he chooses to keep it to himself until that evening and invites B. J. to supper, promising to reveal his big cover story idea. B. J. arrives for supper expecting her father and his latest Alpha girl, she wasn't prepared for the shock of Buck's presence or having L. T.'s big surprise story is her ex, Buck. Buck is a very popular man. He's a best-selling author, and one of the many illegitimate children of his notorious father, Blake Bravo. Having Buck for a cover story is practically guaranteed to sell papers. That doesn't mean B. J. wants to spend any more time in his presence that absolutely necessary. B. J. needs this story though, so she agrees to write the story and finds herself heading to New Bethlehem Flat, California with Buck and a photographer. Buck doesn't know about the baby yet, and B. J. has every intention of telling him about his impending fatherhood - just not right now. B. J. just needs to figure out how to keep him from noticing her morning nausea and finding out about the baby before she's ready to tell him. Christine Rimmer's BRAVO series contains characters that are always strong willed and determined with personalities that shine through the pages, and BRAVO UNWRAPPED is no exception. This story is full of quirky characters, interesting settings - both New York and California, Bravo family history, lots of fighting, and even more loving. B. J. and Buck have a past history that left them both hurting. B. J.'s convinced that she's just no good at romantic relationships. Buck is out to prove that she's everything he could want in a woman.
