Editorial Reviews

Is the Shroud of Turin a physical link to Jesus of Nazarus? Or is it an elaborate medieval forgery? In 1988, the mystery was finally solved. Radiocarbon dating showed that the Shroud of Turin was a 700-year-old hoax. But now, those findings have been substantively and scientifically challenged. If proven, this important and controversial debate will again be thrown wide open. This DVD also features "The da Vinci Shroud."

The da Vinci Shroud: The Turin Shroud is the world's most famous and mysterious religious relic. Believers think it once wrapped the tortured and crucified body of Jesus Christ, but in the 1970's it was revealed as a medieval fake. Who made the image on the shroud has baffled scientists for decades, but now a controversial theory says it could be the work of master artist Leonardo Da Vinci. Did Da Vinci fake the Turin Shroud, and how did he pull off the hoax of the millennium?

5.0 out of 5 stars Unwrapping the Shroud April 24, 2011
By Donna
The Shroud of Turin was carbon dated in the 1970's, and through carbon dating scientists traced the shroud's age to the medieval era. A piece of cloth was taken from the edge of the shroud for the test. This supposedly put an end to the question as to whether this was Christ's shroud. However, a theory developed subsequently that the piece of cloth taken from the edge was not the original cloth, but a cotton patch woven into the original linen to mend an end damaged in a fire during the middle ages. A scientist originally assigned to the carbon dating obtained a patch from the carbon dated sample in an effort to put an end to this "fake" theory, but was in fact astonished to find that the piece of the shroud from which the carbon dated material was taken was a cotton substance different from the original linen from the main part of the shroud. This scientist has been trying to do a new carbon test from linen closer to the middle of the shroud, but has not been able to do so yet. This was a very informative video, and I would love to see another test done to confirm or deny this theory. There are still many other mysteries contained in the cloth; the fact that the image is a positive and not a negative, that is appears to be real human blood, type O,that the image is really a crucified man, and that the pollen from the linen can be traced to shrubs that grow near Jerusalem in the spring.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Shroud of Turin November 23, 2012
It's called hoax bcs the Italian scientists took the samples from its edges as it's the only site tht allowed by the Vatican. Hwvr, accorind to other docs, around 1400 AD, the shroud was always displayed in public. People were allowed to touch it and mostly they touched the edges. Hwvr, I watched from other DVD: "THE REAL FACE OF JESUS" about some computer imaging scientis tried to get more details about the image from the shroud using latest computer technologies. Also how tht man left a mystery tht made them headache. Finally they found it ! One of them almost cried to be realised & how ths man suffered from Roman's tortured.
