Guitarist Nils has launched yet another winner with his latest release, UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL. This CD features a dozen powerful tracks, one being a stunning cover of Carlos Santana's and Tom Coster's immortal "Europa." The other 11 tunes are Nils originals, imbued with his signature guitar work... crisp and edgy, but always accessible and appealing. Radio's first single is "Jazz Cruise" with Shilts guesting on tenor sax, and it's already racing rapidly up the charts. UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL, as with Nils' previous successes, has a distinctly California vibe to it, which gets my attention, and is reflected in titles like "Catalina," "East Bay," and "Winter Rain." This is top-notch stuff, just as we've come to expect from this talented artist. Expect to be hearing songs from Nils' UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL for many weeks and months to come. Nils has become one of my favorite jazz artists. On this cd, his cover of Santana's "Europa" is awesome and I can't get enough of "60 10 29". This cd is the reason that I love contemporary jazz.

NILS is not NILS LOFGREN how it appears in the amazon store , NILS is a jazz guitar player and NILS LOFGREN is a rock guitarrist since many years ago , please , tell me anybody if I'm correct

Well the difference is Nils. This man has done it again. He's put together a superb package that rivals the best of any of his guitar playing contemporaries. The opening track Soul Mates sets you up for a great journey that continues all the way through to the total late night chill out of Winter Rain, the final track on offer (which I've just played three times in a row by the way). Load the disc, push play, and walk away. I'm telling you, it's on!! Great, great job Nils. He's now made it to my "anticipating his next release" category. Got to go some to get in there I'm telling ya.....Bout time for you to get up close and personal with Nils.

Nils previous album material was more to my liking, although his musical skills are clearly demonstrated on this latest release.

Awesome melodic songs that have a great mix of slower and up tempo beats. I just love this album. Smooth jazz style great for times with friends. I have this turned up load when I'm cooking!

NILS once again hits the mark with his unique blend of funky R&B and Soul that stands out compared to other current smooth jazz charting guitarists. Pacific Coast Highway, and Ready To Play shot to number 1 on the industry Smooth Jazz Album Chart and Up Close and Personal is on the verge of doing so as well. If he completes the trifecta he must be considered a superstar on the Smooth Jazz scene. My personal favorite tracks from his most current release are "Jazz Cruise", "Happy To C U" and "60 10 29". There's nothing ever standard or ho-hum about Nils music, it's always fresh and soulful.
