4.0 out of 5 stars Newman captures what's important., June 7, 2001

This review is from: Up Close & Personal: Original Score Album (Audio CD)
Thomas Newman's score for "Up Close and Personal" captures everything that is needed for such a romantic movie: the emotion. To call the movie a romantic comedy is to shortchange it: it's so much more than that, and the music plays a large part in bringing out that heartfelt emotion and feeling that the story breathes. With sweeping moments of score that practically scream tears, Newman gets everything in place, every emotion down, every feeling within each new chord and flow. This, along with his work on "The Green Mile," is definitely worth a listen.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice, September 12, 2007
This review is from: Up Close & Personal: Original Score Album (Audio CD)
I love the movie itself and I loved the soundtrack when I was watching the movie for the first time.. It is greatly done but the only problem is that the length of the scores are less than you can imagine.. You start to feel the music but it will end soon.
If you have programs that you can add musics together, you can do this with it and make the length longer..

2.0 out of 5 stars Just a few sound cues, October 21, 2000
By
"songbear" (Ashburn, VA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Up Close & Personal: Original Score Album (Audio CD)
I love Thomas Newman's work. This music may have worked in the movie, but not as a soundtrack CD. The cues are short, and once you've listened to three tracks on the CD you've heard them all. If you have his Welcome Home Roxy Carmichael CD and the American Beauty ST you don't really need this one. Only for the most diehard soundtrack collectors.
