A really fun album from start to finish,
By A Customer

Right Said Fred are a fun band and that's that. When I first bought this album I had very low expectations, I figured they would have one good song and that'd be it. But I was very suprised at how great this album is. It's now years later and I still find it in my rotation of favorite discs. Richard Fairbrass has a remarkably good voice. If you are in the mood for a fun dancy album, you'll love it. I will agree with everyone who says that "I'm Too Sexy" was overplayed, but the rest of the album is worth some play as well.

What a pleasent surprise!,

Like most people, I first purchased this album strictly for the "I'm Too Sexy" track. What I found when I played this album all thr way through was an interesting and satisfying mix of campy and serious lyrics that continues to captivate even after 12 years(!) of owning this album. The first song on the album, "A Love For All Seasons" starts out with some slick lyrics blended well to pleasent piano, which fades into a nice fusion of jazz organ with an up-beat early 90's drum-set. This song also features a well-placed bit of silence that makes the song. The next song that really does well to impress is the track "Swan", which again features a set of early 90's drum breaks and typical female vocal-set. This song brings back the memories of being alive in the early 90's. I rate this album very high, in fact, higher than any of the previous reviews... Why? Because this is an album that will grow on you, one that is reserved for days of driving in the summer, or evenings of work late at night. This is an album that draws up such a feeling of nostalgia that anyone in love with early 90's music should grab this one, and QUICKLY! Well worth a listen.

Has it really been 14 years?,

This album is ancient now, but it doesn't feel that way - it as still catchy and enthusiastic as the day I bought. Many people don't like this album publically, but privately, they do - it's full of songs about the things people feel but never say out loud - no one ever admits to checking out their own reflection, but everyone does it. It's bright and happy. Put it on and sing along.

I bought this disc in 1991 and it remains one of my all-time favorites. When friends are down, I send them a copy and their spirits are immediately lifted. Try not to smile during "Don't talk just kiss." Impossible!

Blueprint for YOUR life!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Up (Audio CD)
Isn't it incredible? Here, we have the Fred-heads giving us a blueprint on how to live to live our lives. Sad thing is, most of us think RSF are just a one-hit-wonder group (with "I'm Too Sexy"), totally ignoring their follow-up singles "Don't Talk Just Kiss," and "Deeply Dippy." ... There's a touch of everything here -- from Hendrix to Clapton to Beatles, to ABBA, to just about every positive musical experience, all augmented by the wonderful techno beat that makes us all happy. This is one of the great albums ever recorded. If you listen, and become a "true believer," you WILL crave more. I recommend you order the Freds' other (import) albums through Amazon. These albums have never been released in the United States... I've yet to figure out why. I don't understand why the Freds no longer release here in the states, especially when their every effort is sheer perfection; as I write this, I'm listening to their newest release, entitled, "Fredhead," which includes brand new versions of "I'm Too Sexy" and "Don't Talk Just Kiss." In short, RIGHT SAID FRED ROCKS!!! And "UP" is the equivalent of the Beatles' "Meet the Beatles," with many more wonderful surprises to come. A WARNING, THOUGH: Don't attempt to play this album if you're in a depressed state -- it WILL pick you up! You WILL put your life back in order! And if you're already "UP," believe me, it will cause you to soar beyond your wildest dreams. And then, you can buy their other albums.

I am still not able to get my hands upon this album but by listening to only 3 tracks(I'm too sexy, Don't talk just kiss, Deeply deepy) I can very well conclude it as one of the best albums ever released.

Richard Fairbrass ROCKS!,
By

I have been an RSF fan since their release in the US, however, my admiration for them truly crystallized when I got the opportunity to hang out with Richard Fairbrass in Amsterdam, August 1998. He is one of the most down to earth and kind-hearted people I have ever met. His real life spunk and charm really made his personality on his records real. I can definitely say he's real to the core. Charming, lyrical, and sexy... not bad for being 42!

Still feels good,
By Wes (World Citizen, Earth) - See all my reviews

When this came out it was largely thought of as a toss-off, a novelty album. But you know what? There are some GREAT tracks on here, songs that are perfect for driving to the beach during the summer, cuts that definitely have a buoying effect if you need a mood lift. Amazing that they still sound good after all these years.

don't talk, just listen,
By A Customer

Just listen to one song of this album, "Don't talk, just kiss". Superbly crafted pop dance wonders like this are a rarity. Some other tracks may be a little formulaic, but it's all great, rewarding, lovingly optimistic fun with a slice of life every now and then. And you'll get a stroke of genius free with it. And "I'm too sexy".
