3.0 out of 5 stars Classic C&C but too many instumental tracks.
This had potential to be one of the best that they had ever produced. It had a few hilarious tracks on it but it also had too many instrumental tracks from the movie. All in all it is worthy of the price. I recommend this to all the Cheech and Chong fans out there.

I happened to catch the movie the other day on comedy central and it sure brought back memories(they didn't all go up in smoke!}.The comedy is a little dated by now but still pretty funny. I confess I bought this cd for one of the tunes on it that is unavailable any place else that I know of. Throughout the movie whenever the van is seen rolling down the road a very infectious piece of music drives along with it. I later came to find out the name of that tune was called "lost due to imcompetence"(theme for a big green van). I live for a good guitar dominated instrumental piece and this one is a beauty. Apparently at the time some of the best session musicians in the business formed a band called "Yesca" just for the purpose of recording some of the music for this movie. You'd be hard pressed to find a better driving tune than this one. There are some other interesting pieces on the cd also and I'm sure if you're a fan you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars KINDA GRABS YOU BUY THE BOO BOO, MANNN, May 25, 2002
This review is from: Up In Smoke, Cheech & Chong (Audio CD)
Got to be one of the best soundtracks ever, 1st gear,2nd gear had me sore with cheech marin's infectious laughter, and tracks like the instrumental strawberrys and lost due to incompetence are essensial listening for those of us that enjoy the odd nostaliga trip back in to the 70s, cheech and chong themselves rock out on tracks framed, searchin and rock fight.along with the soundtrack for easy rider, up in smoke is indispensable.

very good cd and book cuz yesca rocks. and so do the search boys, and all the other rock and reggae bands in the soundtrack. especially the song "Due to Incompetence" by yesca is a really good song. its really cool, smooth music to listen to, and it just all out rocks.

4.0 out of 5 stars "Still Smoking" And Still Funny, March 23, 2011

Its the best and Funniest parts of a comedy classic. The title song is worth the price of the Cd, too bad they stopped working together. the 70's version of Martin & Lewis.

4.0 out of 5 stars Flows nicely, lots of laughs, May 3, 2009
This review is from: Up in Smoke (Audio Cassette)
Oscillating between spoken word skits, song based comedy and outright instrumentals this is probably my favourite Cheech & Chong album. It just hit me harder even than their Greatest Hit album.

As with all C&C albums you have to get used to the idea of relentless drug references. And complaining about getting 'busted'. And the odd bit of profanity - but this isn't on par with either Chris Rock or Billy Connolly.

What it is however is an album that flows, an album that because of it's inherent variety actually works as something you can listen to from end to end. And that is a rarity in the comedy world.

4.0 out of 5 stars BLAST FROM THE PAST, May 18, 2000
This review is from: Up In Smoke, Cheech & Chong (Audio CD)
JUST FINISHED WATCHING THE MOVIE SO I DECIDED TO CHECK OUT THE SOUNDTRACK. BROUGHT BACK ALOT OF MEMORIES AND STILL MANAGED TO GET THE HEAD BOBBING AND THE FINGERS SNAPPING. AT THIS MOMENT I'M STILL HUMMING "TAKE A LITTLE TRIP, TAKE A LITTLE TRIP." ANYWAY I RATE IT FOUR STARS FOR ORIGINALITY AND HUMOR. I WOULD LOVE TO FIND A ORIGINAL ALBUM, UNOPENED, AND TAKE A TRIP BACK TO THE GOOD DAYS.
