Excellent compilation!, December 19, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Up Til Now (Audio CD)
I had to say something in reference to "bootleg?". What's up with that? It's an excellent cd, pulling together many of Ms. Ian's hits. This is much appreciated since what was readily available on LP is no longer available on CD, for various reasons. So THIS fan is happy to have this as a source.

A Pretty Good Overview of Ian's Music, January 6, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Up Til Now (Audio CD)
Pretty good, if flawed. This CD (while covering more musical ground than the Best of Janis Ian CD, which ends at 1977) has some odd, and also some wonderful, song choices. The best: Silly Habits, Passion Play, Aftertones. Questionable: Let Me Be Lonely, This Night. The song choices, perhaps, are geared to markets outside the US, where Ian has had a number of hit albums and singles that didn't register on the US charts. Whatever, it's a pretty good overview of Ian's most prolific period (70's) and a glimpse of her two 80's albums (including a track from the odd, released-only-in-Australia Uncle Wonderful.) For the real 'Best of Janis Ian,' however, consider Between the Lines (every song a stunner) and her first creation of the new millenium, the wonderful god & the fbi.

Best Of the Best Of, December 30, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Up Til Now (Audio CD)
This is a wonderful CD, a real overview of 10 of Ian's best years in music. Unfortunately, you can buy it less expensively on Ian's own website. Still, amazon.com offers a great deal of convenience. I highly recommend this!

Great cd, November 24, 2000
This review is from: Up Til Now (Audio CD)
My older sister saw her in concert recently and bought the cd there for me (got it autographed). I can't say enough about her. If it were not for Janis Ian, there would be no Alanis or Fiona. I tried getting her played on a local radio station, and they said she was too controversial. You figure. This cd is a must have for any collection

Where is "Society's Child", March 12, 2004
This review is from: Up Til Now (Audio CD)
If you are considering buying this CD, then be sure to check the discography at Janis Ian's official website. I'm pretty sure "Society's Child" is not on it. A shame this golden oldie is missing. It is on the live CD.
