5.0 out of 5 stars BUY THIS BOOK!
I used an earlier edition of this book a few years ago and my score went up from 1280 to 1490. It's an easy read and is laced with humor. You'll end up laughing while you study. What a novelty! I recommend it to anyone needing to prepare for the SAT.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing.
The authors attempt to be amusing to the "average high school student" as well as prepare the student for the SAT, but this book never really manages to live up to its claims. It's basic concepts basically copy (with less success) those taught in "Cracking the SAT"--a much better use of your money! I purchased both books and while I found...

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book, December 31, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Up Your Score: The Underground Guide to the SAT, 2003-2004 Edition (Paperback)
This book is a great way for anyone to polish their math / verbal skills for the SAT. The lax mood of the book makes the SAT seem less formidable, and maybe even "enjoyable"(yea right). Of course, everyone feels more comfortable knowing that the authors of the book scored higher than a 1500, which is pretty good. This book doesn't waste time providing futile practice tests which fail to simulate the actual SAT. Instead, they encourage you to buy 10 Real SATs, which is really the best way to help you improve. The book contains useful tricks and even some shortcuts. The only way this book could have possible been better is by having a section which accentuated on math shortcuts, but nothing is perfect. When the new SAT comes out in 2005, alot of people are going to wish that this book is still out there for the new one. Overall, great prep book, and there's no harm in buying it -- it's cheap and useful.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Resource for Teens, September 21, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Up Your Score: The Underground Guide to the SAT, 2003-2004 Edition (Paperback)
What a great book. I cannot stress how much this book has helped me, a teenager taking the SATs, study for "the most important test of your life". This book is fun to read, and keeps you interested, while also giving some of THE best tips on how to do verbal analgies and tips on how to guess (most people dont think this is so important, but it is a HUGE and INVALUABLE resource). Thank you, Up Your Score...

5.0 out of 5 stars In one word: perfect, February 24, 2004

~Last year, I picked up this book at the library and rushed out to buy it a day later. It is, quite simply, the best SAT book ever. Most SAT review books are written by test coaches, most of whom took the SAT for real thirty years ago. UP YOUR SCORE not only taught me tried-and-true strategies, but that I'm not alone. Its vocabulary section boosted my Verbal score from a 660 to a 800--by the time you finish this book, you'll never forget what "lambaste" means. Its Math section is equally~~ detailed and witty. You also get an informative, realistic Introduction and a chapter all on Guessing. What more can you need? I recommended this book to my friend and she went from a 1360 to a 1490.~

5.0 out of 5 stars "awesome", June 30, 2003

This book is awesome due to the fact that it is written by six top notch students with a sense of humor. The half of the puns and jokes are actually funny and will, just like everyone here said, keep you motivated (as far as you can go with a test prep book). 3 of the writters have scored 1600s and they know the ways to help you get a good score too, such as skills of concentration, preparation, food smuggling and cheating. This book is a definite recommend for anyone serious with the SATs.
Get this book and a book with a lot of practice questions and you are set.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Book for SAT Preparation ... Period!, May 13, 2003

This review is from: Up Your Score: The Underground Guide to the SAT, 2003-2004 Edition (Paperback)
If you are battling just to break 1000 or are shooting for 1600, this book is for you. By far, this is the funniest book ever written on the SAT and this hilarious tone keeps you motivated throughout the book. I read this book in two days! I used this book, along with 10 Real SATs and SAT 1600 by Kaplan to raise my score from 1260 to 1460. So, it can be done! For [the price] this money is worth 3 times its weight in gold. Buy this book...

5.0 out of 5 stars GET THIS BOOK!, October 24, 2003
This review is from: Up Your Score: The Underground Guide to the SAT, 2003-2004 Edition (Paperback)
I didn't have much time to work with this book, but in a little under two weeks I raised my math score by 40 points and my verbal by 10. I definitely recommend this book to ANYONE taking the SAT or PSAT. It is an invaluable resource (and the jokes are worth every cent!). You really get what you pay for with this book, and much more! (Just don't let the Evil Testing Serpent know that you now have the power to annihilate the Slimy Attrocious Torture. ^_^)

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely awesome, January 6, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Up Your Score: The Underground Guide to the SAT, 2003-2004 Edition (Paperback)
Anyone trying desperately to raise their SAT scores but finding either courses or other books absolutely dull should buy this book. anyone not doing that should still buy this book. It helped me to raise my score one hundred points, and it also expanded my vocabulary to ludicrous dimensions that make me sound like a pretentious jerk every once and awhile when i slip words like "macabre" into otherwise ordinary conversation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally... an SAT book that I find interesting to read..., August 14, 2002
By
This review is from: Up Your Score: The Underground Guide to the SAT, 2003-2004 Edition (Paperback)
I've been forced to study for the SATs and the PSATs. I've been given tons and tons of books that i was told to read... and couldn't. Everytime I read a sentence I'd have to go back and read it again because i'd falled asleep in the midst of it. This book is witty and a pleasure to read. it's informative, has a list of vocabulary with stick-in-your-head sentences, and gives you tips on how to guess. This is a must-have...
