5.0 out of 5 stars Can cats and dogs really be friends?, December 9, 2000
This is a story about how a cat and a dog can be friends. Upchuck is the cat and Rotten Willy is the dog. When Upchuck's friend moves away and his Katie goes to some place called College, he becomes lonely. So the only one to play with is Rotten Willy, a Rottweiler, "As big as a car and as black as death itself," but can he trust him to be his friend and not another stupid dog wanting to bite off his head and eat him for lunch?

If you want to find out, then you will have to read the book! It warmed my heart, and made me laugh. If you like books about animals and like to laugh, then this book is for you!

Heather Harger, age 10

My 8 1/2 year old got this book and asked me to read it to him every night. I also fell in love with this book and it was so well written. I am now going to get all of the sequels to this book as a special surprise for Christmas. A story of friendship and sharing life together, it warmed our hearts. The book also kept us both in stitches. We would read paragraphs over and over just to get a good laugh! It was wonderful time together laughing and learning about what life as a cat would be. I loved the parts where the cats would make fun of the dogs.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful book that will raise your soul., November 3, 1999
By A Customer
Upchuck and the Rotten Willy was the best book I ever read. It made me cry, it made me laugh, and it made me have a warm and fuzzy feeling inside all at the same time. If you haven't read this book you have got to read it! It is written from a cat's perspective who runs into lots of troubles, adventures, friendship, sadness and happiness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't Put It Down!, May 31, 2001

Yipee! This book takes off running and doesn't slow down. I had to get the sequels to get these characters out of my system. My 10 yr old son breezed through it and liked the character's antics and situations. I liked the friendship between the two unlikelys-the big dog is gentle while the little cat is spunky (a nice lesson in prejudice at a kid's level). There are no inappropriate scenes-can be read a bedtime! You finish the book on a high note and long for more from these two lovable pets!

5.0 out of 5 stars Youthful humor with life lessons!!, November 23, 2000
By A Customer
I read this book with my 7 year old. It is a story that teaches children that things are not always what they seem. It's done with humor and in a way that they can understand. We laughed and laughed when the cats first met Rotten Willy, and we were very thoughtful as we talked about how it feels when a friend moves away. We enjoyed this story so much, that we're picking up his other two books!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a Must-Read-Gotta-Get-Book, January 22, 2000
I love this book. I got it at a school book fair in 4th grade. I think all pet lovers, or any one that would like to read a good book, should read this one. Upchucks (Chuck) best friend moves away. One day his is stuck between to fences. The Rotten Willy (a kind dog), and the one that would like to bite Chucks head off. To find out what happens, You've Got To Read It Frist!

4.0 out of 5 stars Cats and Dogs can Still be Friends, February 15, 2001
A Kid's Review
It is a funny book and a good book. I think it is funny bcause first the dog hates the cat and the cat hates the dog. And my 2nd reason is because the dogs name is chuck and he throws up in someones car and so they change his name to Up Chuck instead of Chuck. #1 book

I bought this book for my son who isn't a big reader. But he liked this book. Actually, he like almost all Bill Wallace books, so apparently the author knows how to grab the attention of middle school boys.
