About the Author

Laurent has been working with 3ds max since 3D Studio R3 under DOS on various character projects, including Video Games, TV Series, Special Effects, Motion Capture Performances, etc. In 1997, Laurent co-founded KliK Animation, where he led R & D for 2 years, and was also Technical Director on various TV Series such as Le JourNul - the first series to be produced and aired the same day! Le JourNul has won the Gemeaux 1999 award for the Best Animated Series in Quebec, and is now part of the Guinness Book of World Records.

In 1999, Laurent quit KliK Animation to become a freelancer, this was prompted by his desire to spend more energy on enhancing his expertise in 3ds max, and because he wanted to communicate what he had learned over the years to the community. Laurent is also president of Di-O-Matic, a company that produce plug-ins and training CDs for 3ds max.

Laurent is now a Discreet Training Specialist in the Montreal area in Canada. He teaches at various places including, ICARI, NAD, and some major production studios such as Microids, Fly Studio and Production Pascal Blais,the Oscar-2000 winning company. He teaches all class levels of 3ds max, 3D Studio VIZ, character studio, mental ray, and Lightscape, and also plug-ins coming from various developers. All his courses are devoted to bringing 3D characters to life. He writes tutorials and articles for various magazines including Design4, and books including 3ds max 4 MAGIC.
