WELL WRITTEN, BUT LACKING IN GOOD EXAMPLES OF WORK,

This review is from: Upholstery: A Manual of Techniques (Paperback)
It's a good book -- well written -- but it could do with better photographs of work used as visual examples. The choice of showing a student's work is not a good reference for those in the process of learning, when the example shown is sloppy. In fact all of the photographic examples of finished work (except for caning) are not very good; certainly, not the type of work to aspire to. However, it is informative and easy to follow, so a good resource. But anyone who does traditional upholstery well, knows that visual aesthetics and neatness is key to doing good work -- work that will last over time.

its a comprehensive how-to manual for anyone with stools, chairs, or sofas to repair. it Provides detailed instructions in the skills of all traditional approaches to upholstery-rushing, caning, stuffed, and sprung-this is an excellent introduction to techniques that can be applied to a huge range of projects and furniture. i also like the photos :)
