Exquisite Christmas Music, November 25, 2000
"Do you hear what I hear?" is the most beautiful rendition of this classic Christmas song that I have ever heard, and I think it defines not only how exotic and exquisite Jonn Serrie's music truly is, it also defines the sensitivity of how he "hears" music whether interpreting a classic or that which he brings to those of his own creative genius. The Midnight Medely of various carols from other lands is enchanting and fresh. I get the chills listening to his soulful rendition of the French Carol "Between the Ox and the Lamb" for it is so beautiful. "Lo, how a rose e'er blooming" is a German Carol that can bring tears from the emotional depth of its sweetness and sorrow. "Away in the Manger" and "O Holy Night" are delicate, lilting renditions that uplift the spirit and open the heart with a gentle reminder of the essence and meaning of this sacred celebration. It is a lovely way to focus consciousness upon higher values for a time away from the commercialism that often captures one during an energy intensive dash through stores for gifts. Jonn's airy, spatial touch breathes an expansiveness into the music and evokes a sense of release from the occasional stress of holidays. A delicious tingle of bells and chimes throughout "The Holly and the Ivy" brightens the music and delights the ear with a joyous touch that is playful and happy. His masterful, thoughtful piano on "The First Noel" is crystalline and beautifully supported by a richness of airy synthesizers and whispery, angelic voices and is truly gorgeous. Jonn has created a mellow, lush and dreamy feeling with this glossy holiday celebration of sound. Listening to it now in the quiet and comfort of night only one word will describe this album: divine.

Good Job at an "Alternative" Christmas Sound, December 28, 1999
By A Customer
If you dislike space/planetarium music, this CD is NOT for you. If your idea of Christmas music is "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" or "Jingle Bell Rock", don't buy it. However, if you think Christmas is a quiet, contemplative time of reflection, thanks, and wonder, give this CD a try and enjoy.

This review is from: Upon A Midnight Clear (Audio CD)
This CD contains the most beautiful music ever composed! I've listened to this music so many times now, even when it is not Christmas, and it continues to inspire, uplift and move me to new heights of being and awareness every time. Every song is played unlike any other version of holiday music you have ever heard. I never knew that Christmas music, or any other music for that matter, could be so beautiful and so magical. Listening to this music has a profound effect upon me; I feel as if I'm being transported to another dimension. This music is sheer ecstasy and is sure to captivate your heart and soul, as it has ours. Buy this CD and, for best results, put it in your portable player, adjust your headphones, lie down, close your eyes and listen as you are carried away to a place of unimaginable joy and beauty! I guarantee it. Listen to this CD and your cares and worries during the upcoming holidays--and at any other time--will just disappear! I also highly recommend Mr. Serrie's newer holiday CD, "Yuletides."
