This is a very good book. I recommend it. It's a gritty and harrowing account of the war on drugs. Exciting reading, with good action scenes. I plan to read more by this author.

I love this book. The character build and action discription is amazing! Rarely does an author capture such emotion like Glen has. El Diablo is captivating, B.J the main personality is memorable to say the least. If you want to read a book that has it all? Then UPON RELEASE will not disappoint.Congratulations!!!

Inspirational,

This review is from: Upon Release From Prison (Roll Call) (Kindle Edition)
Upon Release is an inspirational sequel to "Roll Call". BJ is out of prison and is in a Catch-22 situation; he can't get a job because of his felonies, and he needs a job in order to stay at the shelter. But through it all, he and his girlfriend Annette maintained their faith in God; despite the struggles of trying to adjust on the outside, and all the roadblocks they encountered. Together, they take on "The War on Drugs" and the "Criminal Justice System". This is an amazing piece of work; a wonderful storyline and well put together. I personally salute the author for his ambitions and his hard work. R.J. Parker Author of True Crime Books

Hard hitting and thought provoking,

This is an autobiographical story which tells it like it is. Be prepared for strong language and true life scenes. This book pulls no punches.
This was a great read, uncompromising with the truth, but at the same time quite emotional in places. The author's protectiveness of his girlfriend and reflections on his faith were woven expertly through the hard hitting drama, and these themes helped preserve the humanity of the story, which might otherwise have been too gritty and violent. Highly recommended.

This book is a real shocker. It explains a world most people don't know about. Some of the main personalities in this book are acts in themselves! If you want an eye-opening and riveting read grab a copy of this book, lock all your doors, keep your gun nearby...and read!

This book is a piece of modern art set in prose instead of in pen or ink or oil. You might not like the writing, and you might not like the grammar, or the points of view, or the shifting first and third person perspective. But don't dismiss the book because it doesn't fit your idea of what a novel should be. Don't turn away from it because it just happens to confuse you, or produces discordant thoughts. Give it a chance. If you do, you'll be better for it, and you may gain insights into things you only hope ever happen to other people. I've never read a book like this, and I'll bet you never have either. At times it is spell-binding in its poetry, and at times it just kicks you in the gut. There are scenes that take your breath away, and scenes that make you wonder what you just read. Three intricate plots tell three separate stories that ultimately intersect in a not-for-Hollywood ending. The story is replete with drug culture and prison culture and police culture. I believe the author knows first hand about these cultures, and presents an unvarnished look at all three. Instead of some fictionalized or romantacized version of any of the cultures, there are just "been there done that" accounts that leave no doubt that this a world none of us ever want to encounter. There are no heroes in this book, there are only real people who face real problems and deal with them in real ways the only way they know how. The social and political commentary is delivered the same way as the fights, and the loving; full-on, live or die. This is a binary book, you are going to love it, or you are going to hate it. Keep writing Glenn, keep writing your way, you have something to say that needs to be heard, in all three of the cultures about which you write.

Great Follow Up,
This review is from: Upon Release From Prison (Roll Call) (Kindle Edition)
This is a great follow up to Roll Call. Glenn's vivid images plunged me deep into the story and kept me turning the pages until the conclusion. I love these stories that take us places most of us have never been. It also shows that no matter how deep one has gone, there is always a way out. I highly recommend this book and look forward to any future books by the author!!

This is a beautiful story about redemption. B.J, released from prison, struggles with a past that seems to want to choke him at all times. B.J's beautiful wife Annette, a former ballerina, also in recovery, makes this love story one for the ages! Detective Pincher reminded me of the problems the Rampart division in L.A. had with some rogue detectives who were stealing drug evidence. A must read for anyone who has struggled with addiction, the answer is God, the church and a supportive family and community!

This novel made me laugh, cry and shout for joy at the end! The sequel to Roll Call, Upon Release follows B.J out of prison and his drug dealing past into his future where he meets a beautiful ex-ballerina who has her own past. Together they take on the criminal justice system, find ways to help other prisoners and drug addicts, connect with the church, while trying to find peace. Detective Pincher is now stealing drug evidence as his slide into addiction takes him into the hands of the L.A. mafia and the Hollywood Madam. Amazing story and ending!
