5.0 out of 5 stars Lucky "accident"..., September 1, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Upon My Wicked Son (Audio CD)
I join in with the first reviewer...I found this CD more or less by accident also, and I CANNOT TELL YOU how good it is...because I feel funny using words that would have to be so superlative. The unique, spirited, _GIFTED_ writing talents of ex-Wall of Voo Doo-ian, Andy Prieboy, along with good tunes and great playing, makes this a WELL-worth-your-money give-it-a try. I would walk 50 miles to see Prieboy in person. He makes me shake my head in wonder. This album has actually added quality to my life!, and how often can you say that??

5.0 out of 5 stars absolute best cd in my collection, August 3, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Upon My Wicked Son (Audio CD)
This is a must hear CD. Bought it by accident years ago and it now rates as the absolute best CD in the collection, even ahead of the Pink Floyd's. A highlight is 'Tomorrow Wendy'. This is also covered by Concrete Blonde (on Bloodletting), for who he has written several songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Andy, February 4, 2003

"Montezuma.....", "Nearer To Morning", "Joliet", "Man Talk", "That Was The Voice", there's just too many good songs here for one album. And if that's not enough, "On The Road Again" is the best cover version ever in the history of music.

If you ever liked Wall Of Voodoo, this is the guy that fronted them after Stan Ridgeway left, making them even better in the process. This is his first solo album. How come this guy isn't a major international star ?

5.0 out of 5 stars In a perfect world Andy Prieboy would be a superstar, December 13, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Upon My Wicked Son (Audio CD)
Both this album and his earlier "Sins of Our Fathers" are wonderful showcases for Mr. Prieboy's song writing skill. The tracks on these albums encompass love, pathos, social insight and satire - all backed by solid rythms and catchy tunes. The title track of this album is a cover of a Canned Heat song, but Andy definitely makes the song his own. If you are looking for intelligent Rock n' Roll you are looking for Andy Prieboy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant CD, excellent writing from an underappreciated musician, November 25, 2010
This review is from: Upon My Wicked Son (Audio CD)
I've been a fan of Andy Prieboy's since his stint with the seminal New Wave band Wall of Voodoo. His solo stuff is very impressive- funny, wry, intelligent, theatrical, and just plain fun to listen to. If you haven't heard Andy's stuff you really should check it out. Either this CD or "Sons of Our Fathers" is well worth a few bucks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tomorrow Wendy, February 29, 2008
This review is from: Upon My Wicked Son (Audio CD)
I heard Tomorrow Wendy on Concrete Blonde's Bloodletting CD. This song is a spooky song with incredible lyrics. I found out why the song was written on Still in Hollywood by Concrete Blonde which contains a live version. On the strength of this one song, I wanted to hear more songs by the songwriter. At the time I didn't know he was ex Wall of Voodoo. But the cd is one that contains many great songs and Tomorrow Wendy stays near adn dear to my heart.
