Great Song,
This review is from: Uprising (MP3 Download)
I was recently flipping through stations on XM radio and came to a song that I loved the beat of. I discovered Uprising by the group Muse. I am over 50, but I really like this song. They sound similar to Depeche Mode from the '70's and 80's.

I've been a Muse fan for many years now. Their sound has changed over the years, but I have never been disappointed. Can't wait for the rest of the album.

More Quality Muse,

This song contains all the qualities that I love about Muse: Driving beat, awesome melodic vocals, a touch of rockin' electronica, well placed synth riffs, and more! Definitely worth the $0.99.

This is a great song, but why the hell is Amazon still selling constant bit-rate (CBR) MP3s? Amazon once had a stated policy of preferring variable bit-rate (VBR) MP3s, but they never stuck to it. The only way MP3 sound quality competes with AAC is by encoding the MP3s as variable bit-rate.
If you care about sound quality, get this song in AAC format from you-know-who.

In my opinion Uprising is a catchy, rocking, profoundly beautiful song essentially about liberty. It's one of the few bands that aren't obsessed with mere sexual urges and superficiality. It's nutty and ironic how Glenn Beck is somehow allowed to use this song in the opening of his radio show considering his intense pro-war and pro-corporatism (anti-liberty) stances.
When asked about the meaning, Christopher Wolstenholme (bassist and backing vocalist) had this to say: "Uprising has the protest thing going on. I think that the whole song is about having a massive mistrust for people in power, whether it be government, or bankers. We're living in a society where we're being told to keep quiet, to just accept things as they are." Matthew Bellamy said: "This song is influenced by glam rock, 80s synths, riots and the more eccentric protesters at the recent G2O protests. It expresses a general mistrust of bankers, global corporations, and politicians."

This is one of my favorite songs by Muse. I can't recommend Muse highly enough. If you like Radiohead then you'll like Muse too.

Loved this song when I heard it on the radio, so wanted to add it to my song list. Same as what I hear on the radio.

Martian Uprising?,
This review is from: Uprising (MP3 Download)
I thought Knights of Cydonia was a cool political song. When I found out Matt meant Cydonia on Mars I thought it was even cooler...and weirder. I'm curious whether this album takes place on Earth or Mars.
Regardless, the new album is one of my biggest anticipations this year. I've been impatiently waiting. At least I've had the Battle Circus EP to obsess over in the meantime. And now their album to look forward to sometime after Muse's album drops. A great year for music, indeed! Uprising didn't stick with me on first listen but it's grown on me a lot. Considering it's a formulaic single in the vein of Supermassive Black Hole I'm not worried. That album still ranks as a favorite.
