Product Description

Product Description

The Yoga Spinner is a game of strengthening the body and stimulating the mind. It is a fabulously fun game that introduces players to the wonders of yoga, improves posture, enhances coordination and increases flexibility. Give the spinner a whirl and let the fun begin. Spin the spinner and answer one simple question or try to hold the pose it lands on for ten seconds. If you held the pose (without falling down laughing) you can keep it. But that's only part of the fun, in this game anything can happen. The object is to collect a card in each color, but whether you play it with a partner or challenge yourself, you win. Upside Down Games offer physical, social and intellectual benefits for players of all ages. Our products provide opportunities for social interaction and build positive self-esteem & confidence. Yoga and active game play enhance balance, coordination, core strength, focus and lots of laughter.

Here's what I love about the Upside Down Games:
* they are yoga-based games..... there are very few out there that are so it's great to see more!
* they go beyond just "poses" (LOVE the "quiz cards" in The Magic Path of Yoga that provide multiple-choice quiz questions relating to basic yoga history, nutrition, body knowledge, the environment & eco-friendly choices; LOVE how the "Mission Cards" in the Yogi Card game get kids to analyze the components of poses; LOVE that the instruction booklet in both versions of The Magic Path of Yoga includes basic anatomy info & how the booklet fans out in the travel version with the pose illustrations on one side & instructions on the back )
* they are well constructed (LOVE how thick the cards are in the Memo Yoga game & how easy the "spinner" is to spin once the cards are taken out the Yoga Spinner game....... many of the kids I work with have difficulty with fine motor skills so these details matter in making a game accessible)
* they are colorful (important for sustaining the attention of younger kids or those with special needs)
* the instructions for the different levels of play are fairly easy to follow and are printed on the box as well as on an insert in each game.
* the company has put thought into responsible manufacturing & materials (see their website for details)
* they made an effort to include illustrations of kids reflecting racial diversity
* their website has info for parents: [...]
* the company donates 10% of the proceeds to help economically disadvantaged children stay in school

Just a few suggestions for improvements:
* I wish they were "cooperative" games (where all the players work together to win the game) vs. "competitive" games......

I bought this game to play at the end of a family yoga class I was teaching. It was a big hit with kids and adults! Everyone had a great time. We loved that the cards had the Sanskrit names of the asanas - great study tool! I highly recommend this game!

I must admit, I was very excited to try this product before it even arrives! This game utilizes Yoga, a practice that I have been doing myself for the past several months, and the ability to try this with my family was an awesome concept! This Yoga Spinner Board Game, was a blast! To say my family enjoyed the game would be an understatement! The fun of taking a spin, and then following the directions is an adrenaline rush for them, and for me as well. The game is a basic concept, as you spin the spinner, during your turn, and practice this move accordingly; while my family tried out the game they are working out, strengthening their core muscles, and having fun while doing it!

When looking for a fun family game to add to your game closet for family nights, this is a must have!! It is colorful, fun, a good workout, and your family will be laughing and enjoying themselves through the process. The Upside Down Games line consists of five games that are all truly unique – no one else has created yoga games! Yoga Spinner directs kids to spin the spinner and draw a card from the matching colored pile. Cards range from yoga poses that must be held for 10 seconds to “steal a card,” “lose a card,” or “all play.” Be the first to collect one card of each color and you win! Perfectly portable, this game makes a great travel item or fun gift for traditional as well as homeschooling families.

It is cute, compact and portable, so you can take it inside your bag if you are a teacher, kid yoga instructor or a parent. It is also very easy to play. I tried it with a ten-year-old during a yoga class and it was very engaging! The partner poses were very fun to try. Most of them were pretty challenging for us, so even if we play it again, we still have work to do.
When we finished the round, I asked him for his opinion about the game and he said, “This is a very unique game because it combines playing with cards and also doing physical activity!” He thought individual poses were less challenging than the ones with a partner.
I highly recommend this game as it will add lots of fun to your class, home or classroom with a different and creative idea. Just like my student said, it combines a card game with physical activity, and such fun poses! Let’s get these kids moving and help with the obesity rates besides working on so many other qualities, including self-esteem!

Played with my nieces and nephew this past week and will be using it in my kids yoga classes this week. Besides using the instructions and playing as suggested you can also play cooperatively or as teams. Short on time, can just use poses on spinner and not the pose cards, etc. Many possibilities of use. The kids 11, 9 and 7 all enjoyed it. I plan to use it with kids ages 5-12 with and without developmental challenges.
