As a pop music critic, I never really put much stock into debut albums of local bands. But as the SE music scene continues to boom, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. After hearing Runaway Cab's "On The Upside", I know I made the right choice.

Enter Runaway Cab, the newest addition to Chapel Hill's esteemed growing list of popular music breakthroughs. "On The Upside" is everything a debut rock album should be, fresh, to the point, and catchy as hell. It was obvious after spinning the first track, "Money Bags", that these guys were for real. Here's the kicker: they're unsigned. Rumor has it on the street that "On The Upside" has already generated serious label attention among several of the big-hitters so I would expect to see these guys on tour very shortly, but after listening to this disc, I was left sitting in the office scratching my head in zen-like amazement wondering "Where have these guys been all my life?"

All signs point to positive for the future of this Runaway Cab of Chapel Hill, NC. If you like radio-friendly pop rock comparable to the Foo Fighters or the Goo Goo Dolls, treat yourself to a gem. Explore "The Upside" of Chapel Hill's very own Runaway Cab.

This is one of the best indie power pop albums I've heard in the past couple of years. Edgy guitars, hooks galore and intelligent lyrics make Runaway Cab one of a kind. Looking for a great local NC band? Be sure to check this album out! They won't be local for long.

These guys are great - after going to a concert in Chapel Hill I had to get their CD. They were incredible! I have watched many local bands make it and I definitely think Runaway Cab is on it's way. I can't wait to say I knew them before... Honestly this is some awesome music!

Awesome guitar, innovative keyboards, a driving bass and powerful drums back a lead singer with talent and energy to spare. Intelligent lyrics and great musicians always make for good music, but these guys have something else to offer- a style that will blow you away.

Pick up this CD and you'll be able to say "I loved their stuff before they were famous." But don't wait too long. These guys will be monopolizing the airwaves before you can say "I WANT MY RUNAWAY CAB! "

I'm a family friend of Matt and his band Rocks!! My family and I were invited to a graduation/concert party and his band was playing. The second the first song started to play I was just blown away. They are now my favorite band. From the guitarist to the singer, I just can't tell you how awesome they are! I know they are going to make it to the big times! If you don't have their CD, you have to go buy it. You will love them! Good luck you guys! You all Rock!!!

Runaway Cab is a phenomenal local band in Chapel Hill, NC that is surely going places on the music scene! I have seen these guys many times in concert, and they always play an amazing show that is filled with energy. I recommend this CD to anyone who wants to hear what the next big band sounds like. So, buy it! You won't regret it, and soon you'll be singing along!

I was in Raleigh, NC a few years ago and happen to go to a bar where they were playing. I was incredibly impressed. For an unsigned local band, they have incredible stage presence. The lead singer has a great connection with the audience. I liked the concert so much, when I got back to Indianapolis, I had to buy it....good luck to them and hope they make it big

I used to work with Ned, the lead singer of Runaway Cab, and I was amazed when I first heard his music. We were sitting in the lobby of Sprint PCS, and he brought in a copy of them practicing. I didn't believe that it was really him. I made him sing one of his songs for me, and it almost brought me to tears. They have a gift that not many people have and I am greatful that I am able to share in there joy. There are alot of bands out there that are good, but you have heard nothing until you listen to Runaway Cab. Keep up the good work guys....Gina
