I heard about Shane & Shane by word of mouth from come people in my church. I bought Upstairs not too long afterwards. I'm a person who listends to a wide variety of much and this cd played for weeks before I moved on. It is heartfelt, honest, and has meaningful lyrics in addition to the music. But this CD buy their previous CD "Carried Away" and buy their new CD Clean (coming out Oct 2004) you will not waste your money. It is so encouraging to my christian walk and not fluff but solid and worshipful

Wow, this is truly the best CD I have listened to in a long time. Finally, Christian music that is not orchestrated or pretentious! All of these songs are so..organic, flowing. You can just sense the passion of Shane and Shane, they're just singing to Jesus. It's not complex, over the top music. Just guitars, light drums, good vocals. Highly reccomended.

Soothing Acoustic Sound,

This cd has been in my cd player for the last few weeks .. and it definitely helps to usher me into the presence of God with profound lyrics that speak to the heart. The song "I Miss You" reminds one that this life is only temporary ... and is nothing compared to the eternal life we have in Jesus Christ. Other songs such as "May the Few" praise the Lord for His mighty ways in all the earth. If you like Shane and Shane's style - fresh harmonies intertwined with insightful lyrics and sweet acoustic guitar ... buy this album.
Heartfelt and inspiring, "Upstairs" stirs up homesickness in the heart of this Christian.

Upstairs...,

Shane & Shane have a heart for God that is so evident in their music, it's awesome how they can take you into deep worship. And Upstairs is a great cd. It starts out really well with Psalm 13, great passionate song, and over all I would say the songs are good, but this cd has a slightly more rustic feel to it than let's say Carry Away and so to me it has a little bit of lackluster. I give it four stars instead of five for that reason. I definitely couldn't give it any less than four stars because this cd shines, like I said before the worship and intimacy with God shown in this cd makes it hard for me to give it any less than four, but I guess after listening to Carry Away (Carry Away being my favorite) I judge it by that standard. But I have to give them a huge shout out to them for recording this in barely any time. Some of my favorites on this cd are Psalm 13, Holy, Beauty for Ashes, The Answer, and Chapter One. And even though I like Carry Away better I would absolutely recommend this cd, it's really good!

I heard of Shane & Shane through a good friend of mine who let me borrow her CD (Upstairs), and ever since listening to it, true worship has taken on a whole new meaning.
I have since then purchased their other albums, all of which are just as wonderful - their CD's almost never leave my CD player!! The music is clean, pure and unique; their voices are soothing, but strong, and very easy to listen to; their lyrics are intricate and meaningful, penetrating something deep inside ones's heart. They make me think of David's psalms - showing the heart of a man broken before, dancing for, crying out to, praising the Lord through the many twists and turns of life... Shane & Shane put everything they have into their music...desire, yearning, sorrow, peace, joy...the songs are like prayers - as though no one but YAHWEH will ever hear them, they are for HIM alone; and that's what makes their music so touching and beautiful - they are doing it for HIM alone, and are giving us a taste of their intimacy with, and passion for, the Father...and you can't help but be drawn into that place of worship.

This is my favorite Shane and Shane CD (however, they are all great!). I love the story on the inside of the CD of how everything was going wrong when recording and how they almost scrapped it. I'm so glad they pushed through because this is a strong CD. The Shanes have a gift of blending flawless harmonies into folksy songs that make you want to close your eyes and breathe it all in. The Shanes excel in simple yet poignant lyrics that Shane Barnard delivers in a breathy angelic kind of way. Highlights include Psalm 13, Holy, Beauty For Ashes, The Answer, I Want It All, and Yearn. And all of the rest of the songs are also good. I love a CD that can say so much without having to say a lot. Shane and Shane can only get better, too, so I look forward to their CD!

This CD is awesome. I cannot say that it is better than the previous album, "Carry Away" but in my opinion it is just as good(they are both incredible). There are a few remixes, "The Answer" being my favorite remix. I'd have to split my favorites five ways:1. May the few, 3.The Answer, 4.Psalm 13, 5. I Miss You, 7. Holy. Many have that unique, artistically attractive sound only Shane and Shane can produce - and that crazy fast strumming. Great lyrics and perfect for road trip sing-alongs.

I bought this CD, because Shane and Shane led worship at a week long youth retreat. There Worship was so awesome so I decided to buy one of their CD's. The music on this CD is very good and I would recommend it if you like Quality music.
