This is the boogie woogie you remember (if you were alive before 1940). Boogie in its early stages. Cecil Gant is featured and that is a major plus. But the various styles of players and singers is outstanding. One, "Barcarole Boogie" is wonderful - it is boogie and still you hear the classical Barcarole. Another example of what a skilled boogie woogie musican can do with the classics. This is an excellent companion piece to compilations by such greats as Albert Ammons, Pete Johnson, Meade Lux Lewis, and, of course, Cecil Gant. If you can remember T.D.'s Boogie Woogie, or Pine Top's Boogie Woogie, you can relate to this C.D. I give it all the stars I can find.

Uptown Boogie is out of this world, upbeat, great, dancing and listening music. I've listened to it twenty or more times. Kids in my homeroom at High School say it makes their day.
