I first heard ZB on the local 'smooth jazz' station back in '96 or so. It naturally stood out strongly because it is not smooth jazz, or at least what I think of as smooth jazz. Peter White is smooth jazz, with boring drum machines, limited tone, and just plain fluff. ZB represents the long lineage of fine true jazz guitarists that came before him, from Charlie Christian through Wes Montgomery and Grant Green, then George Benson, and now with the likes of Chris Standring and Norman Brown. This is real music, with soul and punch, and great variety of moods on one disc. It's worth every penny. I also have Laidback and Groovin' (which I found in a Tucson used music store in '99, after searching for a copy for 6 months...) They are both wonderful, full of passion, with a little bit of an edge. This music will keep you smiling.

I am korean. I heard Cafe Reggio when I was in New York for my studying. Sometimes I heard it from WQ CD 101.9 that is smoohtjazz station in New York. But at that time I did not know the musitian and title. It took about a week to find out this music and musitian. I happened to find smoothjazz guitar album and wrote down names of the players. I searched all of them name by name in this amazon address. Finally I fount this. This passion shows the degree I like this music. Easy melody and very wonderful sound

In this order I must say, Groovin', Laidback and Uptown Groove. Too bad Zach is gone, his cd's will always be in an important place among my other cd's. After 2:00 Am on the East Coast is a relaxed song for making you think of your most emotional experiences. I have the idea of how Zach creates his music and puts so much effort into it, since he plays many instruments. Knowing Zachary has always been a caring and emotional person, all of that show in his music. I love this life too Zach. Be sure we will all be Thinking of Alexis. Your inheritage has made me believe in music, in musicians doing what they love.

This is one of the best new jazz guitarists around and similar to Norman Brown. Zach's version of the Issac Hayes tune from the movie Shaft, "Cafe Reggio" is remarkable. His other album "Groovin" is even better - if you can find it.

I love every track on this CD especially Cafe' Reggio. Zachery Breaux is a fine jazz guitarist. They don't seem to come any better. Some tracks have a touch of blues in them - wonderful to listen to. I believe his Groovin' CD is just as good IF you can lay your hands on it.

Zachary Breaux shares his talents with us again on "Uptown Groove", the follow-up to the stellar "Laidback" release. The music has a pleasant range from cool jazz to funky R&B, and the melodies will sound great at first, and better with each listen. I've had it in constant rotation in my changer for almost a year now, which is saying a lot for a 400 CD collection. Zachary's guitar has that Wes Montgomery/George Benson sound, only he avoids the string section that those two tended to add, which always reminded me of easy listening. It's too bad Zachary has passed on, I was looking forward to more of his great sound.

If you are a fan of smooth jazz Zachary Breaux is thenumber one jazz artist of the 90's

I bought this CD because I heard Zachary Breaux playing extatic guitar on Roy Ayers live CD. Turned out too much of a mixed bag, heavy on an easy listening. Still some pieces very energetic.

I bought this a second time because the first one was stolen. This is a stone cold groove, people. If you like jazz, or if you like guitar music, you will love, absolutely love this. I don't know what happened to this artist (and I mean that in the truest sense) but I sure am thirsty for more.

One problem: the CD I bought was scratched so badly I couldn't listen to even one song. Talk about frustrated.

I first heard of Zachary in the late 90's when I heard Cafe Reggio on KCCK in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Cafe Regio had long been a favorite of mine from Isaac Hayes' Shaft album and to hear somebody do a jazz guitar version really caught my attention. It reminded me of George Benson at the time. I bought the cd shortly after and was impressed by the many styles he played, all effortlessly. It was only months later that I found out that he had died. All 3 of his cd's are very good but Uptown Groove is my favorite.
