This is an excellent book to learn about the "mysterious" planet Uranus!, May 24, 2009
This review is from: Uranus (True Books: Space) (Paperback)
Even if a space program was inclined to send a spaceship to Uranus and you just happened to be on board, you'd better block off a long period of time because it "might take a spaceship about 10 years" to get there. Oh, and bring a warm coat because the planet is "hundreds of degrees below zero." Unlike the rest of the planets in our solar system this blue planet is tilted on its axis. This is some mysterious planet and because of this tilt strange things happen. For example, it is daylight on one end of the planet for a whopping 42 years!
In this "True Book" you will find two true or false questions in the beginning of the book. One is true, the other false and you have to be a sharp reader to find the true one. You'll find out some amazing things about Uranus as you read. You'll discover that this planet is made up mainly of liquid and gas, you'll learn about the astronomer who discovered it, the weather, its 27 moons (five in more depth), its 13 rings and what they are made of and last, but not least you'll learn about the space mission Voyager 2.
This book is an excellent resource to learn about Uranus. There are full-color photographs, a two-page spread on Uranus's solar system, sidebars, fun facts scattered throughout the book, illustrations, statistics, important words, an index and additional recommended books and web sites. Did you know that "if you are 10 years old on Earth, you would be less than one year old on Uranus?" There are some truly amazing facts in this book!
