Basic overview,
By Rev. Dr. Bruce W. Jackson (Boston) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Urban Church Education (Paperback)
Though a bit dated, Donald Rogers' editing of a collection of essays on urban church education makes a strong contribution to the importance of each congregation contextualizing its educational programming to their specific reality. Rogers advocates for an inductive approach to creating educational theory (theology). Thus a dialogue should be established between the theorists and the practicioners (as opposed to the typical pattern of prescriptive proclamations from the "experts"). It is easy to read and glean ideas that, with further analysis may be applied to your own church situation, which is what Rogers advocates! Good for an introduction or overview.
