5.0 out of 5 stars Great music, Anouk at her BEST
this disc is great. my personal favorite songs are: #3 - "Are you kidding me" (where she asks the greatest question of all times: what has she got that I don't have?) #4 - "Tom Waits" (soft and romantic song) #5 - "Urban solitude" (for anyone who has ever felt lonely) #7 - "Michell" (so touching it would send chills down your...

first of all someone from holland has some issues..all and all i thought it was pretty good...i tend to prefer a rougher, less polished version of vocal art...with a raspy no nonsense approach to life, love and dysfunctional dynamics it is an album worth purchasing if female artists are your choice of music..

If you've been in a relationship where the other person was hiding their emotions, or have a hard time expressing your own - you WILL relate to this song. Not a lot of money to spend for a little peiece of heavan...

5.0 out of 5 stars loved it!!, February 20, 2001

what can I say? Anouk knows how to sing...apart from the fact that she has a great voice. This record is one of the best she has made so far.Songs like "my best wasn't good enough" (which on my oppinion is the best on the album),"urban solitude","Tom Waits" and so on make my day better. I think others should at least listen to it..there are quite good lyrics.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Anouk, August 29, 2000

I think this album great. Anouk has a great voice and her music is very good, the lyrics are very mature. Since the first single of this cd " r u kiddin' me " to the last single " Michel", Urban Solitude is a rock cd with slow songs too. Her duet with Dinand Woesthoff in "my best wasn't good enough" is so beautiful and it' my fav track. "Tom Waits" it's a beautiful balad, "My Friend" it's a cool song jus with a voice and a piano."Urban Solitude" a cool rock song ... Well, i have to say ... I love this cd and i adore Anouk !

Truely the best CD made by this Dutch surprise. Worldclass and she deserves more. It's about time the rest of the world discovers this dutch pearl in the oyster named music.

4.0 out of 5 stars Getting Better, February 24, 2000

Everyone who got the first CD (together alone)knows what Anouk's all about. For those who don't have it, Anouk has CD's with great rock songs as well as some good ballads. This CD is better than the first one because it contains a much better overall level of good songs. I like most of the songs and can't really explain why she's so good. Just have a listen to the samples (if there are any)and get hooked by her magnificent voice..so if you like stuff like jewel and Alanis then this just might be the CD for you.

Dutch singer Anouk has scored a big success with her second CD. It Rocks, but is bluesy and soulful at the same time. Her play on words in "Tom Waits" is quite interesting too. She produced this one herself after working on her first CD with members of the Dutch group, Golden Earing. I have had the pleasure of seeing Anouk perform live in Amsterdam, and was blown away. Someday she will make it to the USA and I for one, can't wait!

5.0 out of 5 stars The really good stuff has to be imported nowadays., November 9, 2001

Remember the soulful bluesy rock tunes of the late 60's and early 70's? How about the kickass hard rock of the mid and late 70's? Perhaps you prefer a reggae beat or some of today's rap. Anouk Teeuwe at times explores it all and through it all, this superhot Dutch band ROCKS! Janis, I think, would have touched on music like this had she lived. Urban Solitude is life on the streets; it's hard, it's rough, it'll hit you deep where you live. Good bands rise to the level of greatness traveling through the nightclub trenches, and the hard living shows in the music they write.
