What is in a name? Well, when it comes to Klank's Urban Warfare, everything! The word "klank" itself is an onomatopoeia to describe a raw, edgy sound created when hard objects collide. Klank's music is the ultimate expression of this. From the very beginning, you are treated to a raw, edgy industrial metal album. Yet there is an enormous complexity to the band's sound that you may miss on just one listen. While using headphones, you'll be able to hear not only the individual instruments and vocals, but also the samplings and electronic overlays which complement the instruments. Each layer is carefully crafted and distinguished, yet they blend harmoniously to create this uniquely organic sound. You will really feel the drum set and the guitars, something that is not always heard in an industrial album.

The production of the album is focused on trying to recreate the sound you would hear if you were in the front row of one of their live performances. I'm glad they did not go for an overly-polished sound since this would run contrary to the feel of an Urban Warfare theme. And the name Urban Warfare describes the experience so well. You feel like you're being chased by a Terminator in the LA River one minute, then the next minute you're busting dance moves in an urban street competition. It's this yin-yang of catchy grooves and hard-hitting metal that make Urban Warfare such a unique experience and should appeal to a wide range of listeners.

Although Klank has used well-known recording labels in the past, they chose the road less traveled with Urban Warfare and produced the album themselves via Daren's own label, SmokeDogg Productions. Doing an independent record is always a risk since you lack many of the safety nets a major recording label can provide.

Klank is a very cool artist. He was in circle of dust and he helped argyle park also and he has his own style of industrial hard rock.Urban Warfare is not industrial though, but it is a very good album and the lyrics are pretty good also.
