Despite claiming a year ago that I would wait for a North American DVD release to watch Steven Seagal's "True Justice" TV show, the fact that no such thing exists even a year-and-a-half after the series' initial airing coupled with my curiosity to get the better of me, and I recently indulged in the digital release. I'm glad to say that, overall, I don't consider my money wasted: despite my poor first impression from the UK release of its first two episodes, the show settles into a mildly entertaining police saga and ends up being a better vehicle for Seagal at this stage in his career than expected. Of course, there remain several disappointments, and the show's overall quality dips in during the last several episodes of this first season, so once again, this is best viewed by committed Seagal fans only.

The premise: detective Elijah Kane (Seagal, Lawman) heads his Seattle-based police task force against a plethora of criminals, including serial killers, drug runners, Neo-Nazis, and various mafia contingents.

While the all-knowledgeable, all-powerful persona that Seagal tends to play in his movies has received consistent criticism, Elijah Kane is slightly more believable: he's a good mentor character - balancing toughness with compassion - and at this point in his life and career, Seagal certainly has achieved the age in which a character of his can credibly claim to have been around the block more times than others. The team he leads is more hit & miss: Juliet Saunders (Meghan Ory,

It downloaded good but didn't play well at all. This was one purchase that wasn't worth it. Unless they work better on the product I don't recommend buying it

I am a huge fan of Steven Seagal and when I was able to purchase the entire season I did a 48 hour marathon and just enjoyed every show. Awaiting the release of the entire Season 2 so I can purchase. So have a True Justice Party with some close friends

Right off the bat, you've got to watch at least two or three episodes of True Justice before you judge this show. They do seem to get much better and Steven Seagal can actually act in most of them. There's a great supporting cast that does a very good job and you will, have more than enough excitement and chuckles to get you through the 50 min or so.

Well worth the $$ and afterward, you may be looking for all those old Steven Seagal DVD's you have stored in the basement or garage. MAYBE.

Enjoy!

Yakuza was a good episode of True Justice. The story was good. This episode explained
a lot about Kanes background. They spoke about his wife and how she died. We find out
that he used to be a hired assasin for the government. I didn't like the music at the
end of the episode. The actors who played the two lead Japanese bad guys did a good job
and I am looking forward to the next episode.
