I'm an avid runner...4-5x per week at 20-25 miles. I've spent $130 on V-Moda in-ear headphones in the past ("thinking at this price, I'll never buy another pair and these will always sound amazing")only to have the cord short out one month outside of their warranty (their support sucked...I mailed them the headphones back with a note saying..."you didn't support them, why should I").

I was so frustrated I went to $15 in-ear Skull Candy phones thinking "if this happens again...I'll just buy another pair". The Skull Candy phones held up but sounded horrible...no low end whatsoever...tinniest sound I've ever heard.

Earlier this year my wife bought me a pair Urban Ears Plattan to travel with and I LOVED them...they look and sound amazing (guess I should rate them...but they don't need the support as much).

So I thought it's been a year of crappy sound and I ordered the Baggis and Medis at the same time thinking I'd return one. Both looked sounded amazing. But the Medis won hand's down in comfort. The fact is I've never been crazy about in-ear headphones for running (uncomfortable and they never stay in)...I've just never found a viable alternative...until now. The patented design is remarkable...they don't come out unless you reach up and remove them. Even better they don't fit inside your canal...it's as if your not even wearing headphones, yet the sound is huge and full. Low end is outstanding. They honestly sound as good as the Plattan...I don't know if I would own the Plattan if I would have had the Medis first...but I'm glad I do.

I went running with them for the first time yesterday...50minutes...5 miles. The sound was the best I've ever experienced while running. The comfort unparalleled...amazing.

PROS:
These earphones are comfortable and great for working out. The interchangeable buds provide a snug fit for all shapes and sizes of ears, I especially like them because they fit so securely during work outs, running, walking, whatever exercise you may do. Because of the unorthodox way the earphones fit into your ear the sound quality isn't "studio quality", don't get me wrong they still sound great, and instead of being cocooned in what you're listening to you will still be able to hear sounds around you. I guess this is great if you want to still be aware of your surroundings, especially if you're outside running.

CONS:
The cord breaks after about 5 to 6 months of use. The sound in one of the buds goes in and out and then eventually goes out completely. I have been through 3 of these earphones and all of them have succumb to this fate and all in the same time period.

They aren't quite as amazingly comfortable as they claim to be, and putting them in your ears takes a little getting used to, but they are pretty nice. The color is great, and the little speaker with the pause button is handy. They seem quite sturdy, but contrary to what the previous reviewer said, they do come with a way to change the size. It's not a big difference, but they offer different nubs for different ear sizes. I do agree that the medium size is probably what works for most people, but the option exists. The sound is kind of interesting, because it's almost the opposite of many other earphones today, as it's made to let all the ambient noise still reach your ear. The quality seems relatively good, but they're not made for the person who wants to be able to block out all the noise in a busy place and listen to their music.

I love these headphones - they're comfortable, sound great and don't leak noise. The only problem is I'm on my 3rd pair in 8 months due to the left ear losing sound. Currently on my 3rd pair the left ear is scratchy and fast-forwards or skips tracks on the iPhone as part of the problem. I've bought one pair from Amazon, one directly from the company and one from a store, so the problem is not isolated.

I want to love these headphones completely but I won't be buying a 4th pair and will likely never return to the brand.

I've gone through a graveyard of headphones to use with my Android phone. I needed some for daily, casual wearing as I listen to music, compose voice texts, distance run and talk on the phone (often all at the same time). I am, in a sense, a headphones Power User. Over the 6months I've owned Urban Ear Medis, I found them to be the best among a category that doesn't seem to have any clear winners. I'm happy with them and think you might be as well.

Here's a breakdown of features that relates to the user:

Fit/Comfort: The earclick style was attractive to me, since I don't like jamming things into my ear canal. Plus, in-ear phones, even when fit right, tend to slip out when running. I run in Central TX. I sweat. The clicks hold on firm without fail or discomfort. I like the fabric cord and the fitting to the RCA plus is nice without being rigid (this is often a place where headphones can break). I have the Medis plugged into my phone in my pocket and have had some bumps. The connection is still tight. The fabric is durable. Some mention that it knots... All you have to do for this is unknot it. It's a cord. I like the red (tomato) color. It's not a feminine red.

Audio Quality: The larger speaker gives an ample sound, but this is where speakers that are set in-ear probably have more of a sense of range, esp with bass. I find the quality here is good. Fidelity is nice, but I don't get all the volume I might get with in-ear. But, I'm also not completely cut off from the world (Medis are not isolating), which I find is a good thing for use in stores or driving.

Voice Input/Microphone: Here is where the design of the UrbanEars is superior IMO. The microphone is fixed at the midpoint of cord leading to the left speaker.
