Product Description

The strategic force behind Urbane Grain has been in the food consulting business for almost 20 years and has successfully served many of the major Fortune 1000 food companies. This list includes Mars, ConAgra, Heinz, Kraft, Procter & Gamble (when they marketed food) and others. The members of this strategic force count over 75 years of experience in the food business. Deciding it was time to take one of our concepts to market for ourselves rather than for a client, our culinary team expanded to include an exceptional chef from one of San Francisco's finest restaurants. The expanded culinary team worked tirelessly for almost 12 months to create this new, branded line of taste sensations. The result of this effort is the Urbane Grain brand, meant to be a celebration of delicious, healthy eating, reminiscent of our most memorable dining experiences at the finest restaurants in great urban centers. We know you will enjoy the superb taste and, if you are one of our retail partners, the high sales potential of this great, new brand.

Urbane Grain Whole Grain Quinoa Blend, Thai Red Curry, 4-Ounce (Pack of 3) Normally if I don't like a food item, I figure it's a matter of personal taste. Someone else with a more discerning palate may enjoy it. But I challenge the producers of this horrendous mess to find anyone who can actually stomach the Thai Red Curry Quinoa. The strange chemical aftertaste makes it completely inedible. I threw out the entire batch after two bites - the second bite was to confirm that it really did taste that awful and I wasn't just imagining it. This is the only food review I've ever written but I hated this product so much that I was move to voice my opinion. I'm incensed that a product of this calibre could get past product management, market research, corporate food buyers and actually make it to my grocery store shelf. I'm even angrier that Urbane Grain seems to follow a short-term business practice of putting out an inferior product, wrapping it in a nice package with a delectable sounding name to get people to buy it once. When the company has exploited the ignorant consumer, they will simply discontinue the product and move on to the next foul tasting gruel with a fancy name. Perhaps the other flavors may be fit to eat but I won't be wasting any more of my money on an Urbane Grain product.

It's very strange, but this mix smells and tastes exactly like soap or some kind of strange chemical. I opened the bag and smelled the contents and instantly got a soapy/chemical scent. As I was cooking it the smell got stronger and filled the house. When I tasted it, the initial taste wasn't too bad, but the aftertaste was awful. It honestly tasted like I just chewed on a bar of soap. I had to throw out the whole batch, and I hate wasting food. I was drawn to this product because of it's clean ingredient statement, it's easy preparation, and because it sounded really good - I love Thai Food, curries and quinoa blends - but this was a huge let down. This was my first time buying any product from this brand, and I'm definitely not going to risk buying it again in any flavor they offer.

It wasn't bad enough that this was an unappealing blob of mush when it was ready to serve, but my husband and I both crunched down on what felt like course sand or even glass. We were trying the Roasted Garlic & Fines Herbes variety. Had to throw the whole mess away. I also bought the Bacon flavor: it's going back to the store and I'll be sure to tell them why I'm returning it!

One of the worst products ever created! Intense, soapy-chemical taste, disgusting. Had to throw out the whole batch. DO NOT BUY THIS. I hate wasting food, and thought I could keep it down. I was wrong. It was the worst thing I've ever eaten in my life. This product should IMMEDIATELY be pulled from every retail outlet worldwide and destroyed. A waste of time and money. Did the product creators even bother tasting it? I've tried TWICE to enjoy this product (once, the 'red curry' and tonight, the "green curry"). BOTH were disgusting and inedible.
