5.0 out of 5 stars This product cured my Keurig brewer blues
My Keurig started acting funny. Coffee was not as warm, it started to make louder noises during the brewing process and the coffee sizes were becoming less and less reliable (example: a tall travel sized portion was much less). The machine was acting up because it was clogged with scale. Easy solution: de-scale.

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware - you will only receive ONE box with 3 bags!
I wish I had read all the reviews before purchasing this product. The description and photo are a lie. You will only receive ONE box with THREE bags. This has been reported before. I do not understand why Amazon did not require Urnex to change their solicitation to match the actual product offered. Very disappointing. I will check out other suppliers in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars This product cured my Keurig brewer blues, February 10, 2010

My Keurig started acting funny. Coffee was not as warm, it started to make louder noises during the brewing process and the coffee sizes were becoming less and less reliable (example: a tall travel sized portion was much less). The machine was acting up because it was clogged with scale. Easy solution: de-scale.

I've used vinegar in the past for all of my brewer descaling and it has worked satisfactorily. However, vinegar is not a product I keep around that often, it smells when it's used in a descaling situation and it takes up a lot of room if stored. That said, vinegar does work ... but I like these Cleancaf packets better.

Pros: they are small, easy to use, and this purchase gives you 9 uses.

Cons: is an irritant, may be more costly than vinegar

I believe a reviewer mentioned a "blue" color so that one could tell if the product was through the system adequately. For me, this was not the case. The color was cloudy white, not blue. But after several runs through my Keurig, it worked.

My method of use:

1) I have a Keurig B70 Single-cup K-cup brewer. I used a large Pyrex Pyrex Prepware 1-Quart Measuring Cup, Clear with Red Measurements measuring cup to prepare the mixture and catch the mixture.

2) After I prepared the mix in warm water, I poured it into my Kuerig water reservoir and ran it through cup cycles (about 4 of them).

3) I thoroughly rinsed the water reservoir and used clean water to run through more cup cycles on the machine. Using my Pyrex, I could watch the water become clearer and clearer.

4) I ran 3 reservoirs of water through before I was satisfied it was clean enough and there were no traces of this product left. That worked.

After I was done, the coffee came out PIPING HOT at the set 129 degrees F. The portions were even and the machine was brewing much more quietly and efficiently. Descaling is not one of those things that one usually thinks about too often until a brewer starts to get moody. This is a great product to have on hand to take care of the brewer blues.

5 Stars!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Coffeemaker Cleaner Ever!, August 14, 2008

This review is from: Urnex Cleancaf Coffee Maker & Espresso Machine Cleaner and Descaler 3 Pack (Electronics)
I got a sample of this product in my new Hamilton Beach Brew Station. The first time I used it, I could not believe how great it is.

Things I like:

Dissolve in 4 cups of water, pour in coffeemaker. Dissolves easily.

Run through the coffeemaker, then wipe and rinse parts. I said "wipe", not "scrub"! First one I ever used that I could do that. I was very impressed.

Two subsequent run throughs with clear water. The cleaner is tinted with a blue color, so that you can see if you have got it all rinsed out.

Then you are done. That's it. No more muss, fuss, or mess.

It does say to use it once a week. I find once a month is plenty for us, but that would depend on coffeemaker usage. Fabulous product.

I love the ease and quality of this coffee pot cleaner. I have used it on several machines that I have had and it always does a good job with very little fuss or mess. We have a well and have hard water, so I clean our coffee pot every month with this product. Works great!

5.0 out of 5 stars Revived my Gaggia espresso machine, August 18, 2010

I had my espresso machine for about 4 years and used Durgol once perhaps 3 years ago. The years passed and I never really thought about it. I used JoeGlo to clean the machine and thought that was basically all I needed to do. Well, about two weeks ago, after not using the machine for a while because of moving, I turned on the machine and tried to pull a shot. It took my machine about 60 seconds to pull just a shot of water through. When I loaded the portafilter and tried to pull a shot of espresso it barely dribbled out and was absolutely horrible. I thought my pump was dying and started researching new espresso machines. After looking at some forums, I learned that limescale may have built up on the boiler and I figured spending less than $10 was better than buying a $400-500 machine.

I followed the instructions on the package, ran it through the machine and steam wand, and ran a couple of liters of water through afterward to flush the rest of the chemicals out, and it made my espresso machine almost like new! It pumps out water like it used to and I can pull a shot of coffee in a normal amount of time again!

Highly recommended.

When I purchased my first Hamilton Beach Brewstation coffee maker in 2005, it came with a packet of CleanCaf enclosed. I used it then, and was amazed at the results and now I wouldn't buy anything else to clean my coffeemaker. Simply put, nothing else works as well to clean my coffee pot. White vinegar is a joke next to this, and I've tried some of the cleaners that you can buy in the supermarket and they just can't compare.

1.0 out of 5 stars False Advertising!!, October 1, 2011

The description says it is a 3 pack, and the picture shows three boxes. It is NOT three boxes. It is one box, with 3 packets inside. This product is only sold in boxes with 3 packets, so when they show 3 boxes, you expect to get 9 packets. Other sellers are selling the same thing for about half the price. I paid almost twice as much for this because I thought it was three boxes. I think that one of the reviews even said that this provided 9 applications. Wrong! Don't be fooled. Buy from one of the other sellers at a lower price.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY!! Destroyed BOTH my machines!!!, July 8, 2011

I don't know if there has been a change in the formula for this item or what, but it DOES NOT WORK. I have a Kuereg One Cup coffee machine that is about 8 months old. The directions for the Kuereg machine say to use vinegar and water, but I didn't want to leave an odor, so I tried this product. The contents do not fully dissolve, despite mixing with more than the recommended amount of water, using piping hot water, mixing thoroughly. Even after even letting it sit for a while, there were still very noticeable white particles in the water.

I ran the cycle as directed, and then ran 3 more full fresh tanks of water in the machine. When I then tried making a cup of cofee, the machine did not even work anymore. Nothing came out! I removed the cofee insert and ran the machine, and this time it worked, but it took 5 minutes for half a cup of hot water to come out and then it quit before it could even finish one cup. Also the "DESCALE" indicator came on after using this cleaner, which never appeared before! I cleaned the machine with vinegar cycles and have run dozens of tanks of water through, but it is destroyed and still has the problems described.

Also tried this cleaner on my Delonghi espresso machine, which is only 2 months old and worked perfectly. The machine now leaks from the head after using this product. The delonghi used to produce a solid stream of espresso within 20 seconds with a nice crema on top. Now I hardly get a drip that barely comes out and no way to create any foam head at such a slow pace. It also takes a couple of minutes for one 4 ounce cup of espresso to come out, when before it took about 20 seconds. The espresso tastes disgusting because the machine's output ability has been compromised ..and also, there is the issue with the ODOR and RESIDUE!

On both machines, there was a bubbly, faint orange tint to the water after using this product, with an acidic smell. Despite running countless hot water tanks through both machines, this smell and slightly bubbly output is still present. Clearly some residue remains that cannot be removed. What a NIGHTMARE! I simply wanted to clean my coffee machines, NOW THEY ARE BOTH DESTROYED!!!

It works just like promised. Illy recommends this product for their coffee machines, which is why I bought it. It is pretty easy to use. Just follow directions. Note the proportions, though. My coffee maker's water reserve needed only one half of the packet.

1.0 out of 5 stars Works about the same as vinegar, the blue dye doesn't show, and you only get 3 bags, August 7, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Urnex Cleancaf Coffee Maker & Espresso Machine Cleaner and Descaler 3 Pack (Electronics)
The title says it all...

For years I've been using vinegar and water to clean my coffee makers. When I saw this stuff, with a lot of great reviews, blue dye to show when it's completely removed, and nine bags for a great price it appeard too good to be true.

As is typical in this case... it was.

The stuff smells like concentrated vinegar. The results are no better. The "blue dye" barely showed up when I mixed the initial batch let alone during the rinse cycles. Finally, I only received one box containg three pouches while the listing says, "You get 3 boxes - 3 single use packets per box". So, I paid 3 times what I expected for a product that works no better than diluted vinegar that costs pennies a use.

To me, all this adds up to a terrible value.
