I tried to find descaler for my Tassimo in several stores without any success. I ordered online and when it arrived I immediately followed directions to descale my machine. I guess I didn't follow the directions exactly because at the end of the cleaning cycle the descaling light was still lit. So after reading the directions again and HOLDING the brew button for at least 3 seconds, the descaling cycle began. I filled the reservoir to the Max line and added the descaling solution. It took more than an hour, but the descaling solution cleaned all of the gunk and scaling from the machine's interior and the dreaded descaling light went out. Beverages taste as good as the day I bought my machine. I'm happy! I use my Tassimo every day so getting a good-tasting cup of coffee is essential to my daughter and me. The 12 packs of descaling solution should last at least a couple of years, so the $$$ I spent is definitely worth it.

I have a Breville YouBrew that is only 3 months old, and alerted me that it required descaling (the water is terribly hard where I live).

I followed Breville's instructions exactly, using vinegar, and had a useless machine afterwards. I'm guessing that the vinegar loosened the deposits inside the machine, and consolidated them into a single mass that all but completely blocked water flow. On 3 occasions I told the machine to make 12 cups -- and after 10 minutes of the machine hissing, coughing, groaning and sweating, I'd end up with 4 cups, at which point the machine would give up.

I was just about to call Breville to ask for a replacement, but decided to give this product a try first -- and man was I glad I did!

I used 2 packets, mixed with 60 ounces of water... and immediately saw a massive difference. All of the hissing and sputtering were gone, and on the first round the machine cycled the full 12 cups. I then ran 60 ounces of plain water through, and it was apparent that the machine was back to normal.

I can't say enough how pleased I am with the results. I'll never use vinegar again (I can't stand the smell, and it seems to take days for the taste to get completely purged from a coffee machine).

Very highly recommended!!

After about 6 months with my Keurig coffee maker from Costco, it started getting a little loud in the mornings with the hard water we have here. I came across this product and ordered it. Talk about quick cleaning. Went from noisy to clean in very little time. Usually lasts a couple months before the next cleaning. At first I was using two packets for the cleaning but found that one works just as good.

I have a Keurig which I dearly love, but it seems to be very picky. Every couple of months, it will stop sucking up the water after a brew cycle and turn off. It will usually start up again after the power button turned on again but eventually even that won't work. I put a packet of this in the water tank and it clears up the problem immediately and the cycles will start working normally again. I don't know if the water here is particularly hard, but having to descale every couple of months seems like a lot. At any rate, I will continue to use this product to keep the Keurig working.

I have a Saeco Vienna Plus automatic machine, and this descaler works perfectly and is easy to use. And buying in bulk cuts the cost and will last a long time.

The descaler seems to have helped somewhat with my espresso machine, which had started running very slowly. However, be sure to rinse and rinse again. I ran two containers of plain water through my machine after using this product. I thought that would be plenty to rinse out the descaler residue. Wrong! That first cup of espresso was a shock! Yuck! I ran three more full containers of fresh water through the machine, and the lingering taste of the descaler seems to be gone now.

I took the advice of several reviewers and gave the Urnex Dezcal a try. I'm so glad I did. I used to buy the most expensive products because they were recommended for my espresso machine. Since then I've tried everything and either the cleaner doesn't work at all, or just doesn't work well enough. And I'm a fairly picky person. Some people call me extremely picky. The Urnex was super easy to use. I ran the solution through for a bit and then let it sit for 10-15 minutes. When I ran the solution through again, a could see chunks of white scale coming out. I NEVER had that before, even with the most expensive solutions. Perfect Espresso shots now. Just like my machine is new again.

This product failed to clean our coffeemaker.

Admittedly our coffeemaker had a significant amount of crud because we had neglected to clean it for a very long time.

I've posted a picture showing its failure to clean. We hand-cleaned the insides of the coffeemaker wherever we could reach. That is the white area in the photo. We hoped the product would clean the corner where we could not reach. As you can see from the photo, it did not.

For some reason the package instructions on the back are written in a tiny white font on a silver background, nearly impossible to read. But it is important to read the cautions there.
Here's an excerpt: "WARNING... Do not breathe dust. In case of contact with eyes.... seek medical advice. Avoid contact with skin....If swallowed seek medical advice immediately and show this container."

So I dressed in my Hazmat suit (just kidding), put on a face mask to avoid breathing in the dust (not kidding), and used the product.

After reading all the glowing reviews we were disappointed when it failed to clean where we could not reach. However, I assume it is cleaning the hidden insides of the coffeemaker. Inasmuch as we have eleven more envelopes of this cleaner we will schedule frequent periodic cleanings and hope for the best.
