We ordered this set on Fri, Jun 26, 2009 and it arrived on Jul 1, 2009. I was a bit nervous about the quality for $170 which included $29 for shipping by Fed Ex. We purchased this set for our 10 year old son who is really excited about playing the bass. The bass is beautiful. It seems to be well put together with no defects whatsoever. It was just a little out of tune. His teacher showed him how to tune it with the included tuner. The kit also came with a bag, strap, amp, and DVD. My son said that the DVD was a little hard to understand. The amp is a decent amp to practice with. This is definitely the way to go for a starter set. My son has not put this set down and we do not have to tell him to practice. Time will tell how good the set really is. His teacher said it is a nice guitar and amp. As he improves he should get a better one. This package is a steal. To me the bass is worth the total cost of the package.

if you are just starting or haven't even played bass yet but just want to explore it i really recommend buying this is at a good price 150 dollars with shipping and it comes with all the bells and whistles my brother got this for his birthday and he was really please i recommend this product to any one looking to start bass

I bought this product because I finally decided to learn to play an instrument. Well it is a pretty good deal. Everything is included: a nice bass, a small amplifier, the wires, a bag, a DVD and even an electric tuner. So far, the bass is still working well. The DVD helps, but not that much, I still have to learn by myself or try other books or DVDs. I do recommend this product for any beginner, it is not really expensive for what it is.

Iam just starting to learn how to play bass so was not looking to pay alot of money to get my feet wet. Well, let me say this... this starter kit comes with alot of neat stuff! The Bass (comes in all sort of cool colors, look around for your the color you like here at Amazon) Amp, a electic/ acustic tuner, strap for the bass, cord to contect to the amp, and a dvd that plugs you into a free bass training site, and blog! I really like the color, got the sun burst colored bass, and so far pretty happy. My bass came already set up!
The only reason I gave this four starts is because my D string was cut a little too short so had to replace it! Aside from that...I am pretty happy overall. The price was not bad given all the stuff you get!

I purchased this jazz bass for my son directly from Rondo Music. I am very pleased with the purchase. Before purchase I searched the internet to find as much information on the SX brand instruments. Harmony Central had many reviews and most were positive and of course helpful in the decision making process. The negative ones seemed to compare the SX to high end instruments that are $600 and up such as American made Fender Basses.

I did visit several local music shops in my area to look at the Fender and Ibanez products available for beginners and the prices were much higher for just the instrument alone and the quality no better. In fact, the SX is better quality. While it is true you get what you pay for, SX does put out a nice product at an excellent price point.

We are satisfied with the bass purchased for our son. He is a beginner and it was not a huge investment. Thus, compared to the "name brands" this bass rocks!

Also Rondo provides responsive customer service should any issues arise, as the case that came with the bass did not fit properly and was too small.

Overall, I recommend their product and may be looking into a short scale guitar for our daughter.
