Product Description

Whether you are going to the prom, a business meeting or an afternoon in the park, you will love putting your hair in a casual up do with this beautiful hair accessory, hand crafted and carved in the beautiful Southern Appalachian Mountains by the designer crafts team, Phil and Martha Baerreis. We carefully crafted it from Beautiful Bubinga Wood, (Guibourtia demeusei) also known as African Rosewood (Tropical West Africa, Cameroon, Gabon). Bubinga is favored by woodworkers and jewelers for its rich reddish brown color - as well as its strength and finishing properties. Your hair stick will be made as ordered and shipped within 1 to 2 days! Our combs are light, strong and comfortable; very soft to the touch. They are designed as a functional accent to your hair. We choose the finest and most beautiful woods to create natural hair jewelry and accessories you will use often! The length of this hairpin is about 6 inches and it is very nice! Phil or Martha free-hand carve the curve in this hair stick with its function in mind; Martha designed it and finishes it. It is very wearable and fits the natural curve of the head and for maximum comfort and secure fit. Each piece is carefully rounded and smoothed. You can order multiples for your bridal party or sorority! This design is Designs by Baerreis intellectual property, all rights reserved 1972 - 2007

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Gift--but expensive!, January 8, 2011

Luckily I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my daughter-in-law--who loved it! She didn't have to see the price tag. I would not have bought it for myself--but it made a great gift!

5.0 out of 5 stars use it most everyday, November 5, 2010

This review is from: "Ursula" Style Hair Fork Natural Exotic African Bubinga Wood (Apparel)
My hair is nearly to my waist and pretty thick. I like to pull it back most everyday but was looking for something different than just a ponytail. This is perfect! I got the 5" long one and it's a solid piece. I wrap my hair in a bun, stick the pin through, and voila! Done for the rest of the day. I even use it for going to the gym to keep my hair out of the way. Sometimes it does slide out a bit when I've been bouncing around for 1/2 hr. or more (really moving.) This hair accessory is pretty, very practical, and will last a long, long time.

I still use this but not as often. Not a flaw with the accessory, but my changing style. I've started to use bobby pins more. This is still very nice and more noticeable than plain bobby pins, but I just needed a change. I'm sure I will use this and come back to it when I get bored with this style. :) I can't tell any use or abuse after this time.
