5.0 out of 5 stars The best critique on LeGuin available, December 19, 2006

This review is from: Ursula K. Le Guin (Twayne's United States Authors Series) (Hardcover)
If you are looking for a good critique and analysis of Ursula K. LeGuin's early period, then this is the book. Charlotte Spivak was the only English professor in the world to offer an upper level college course solely on LeGuin. She also makes use of conversations and interviews with the author. I've used this book in teaching high school classes during units on Phantasy, Legend, and Mythology. Far more than just a book about LeGuin, it has many interesting insights into the psychology of the Phantasy genre in general. I recommend it to anyone who is interested in a critical analysis of the Phantasy genre.
