This review is from: Uruguay (Enchantment of the World, Second) (Library Binding)
Really useful little book (140 p) aimed at 9-12 yr olds but there's so few books on Uruguay that it's great for adults too. Taking the same format as other books in the series, the writer starts with a look at the land and animals before turning to its history...the first tribes, arrival of Spanish, independence up to today's government. There then follow chapters on the economy, people and their culture and daily life. Loads of color photos throughout and little articles on topics like the Fray Bentos business. Even a recipe for steak Uruguay style to add to the interest!
