If you liked Anima Animus, I'd say that U.S. Retrace will please you as well. Great tribal drums and haunting vocals. All of the Creatures records are worth a listen, but the last two have been their most focused work to date. The only weak tracks are the remixes which like most remixes out now bear no resemblance to the song being "remixed". "Turn it On" is much better arranged by The Creatures themselves on Anima Animus. This cd is primitive and futuristic at the same time. Somehow The Creatures sound like inverted cyberpunk dance music from a past future. A great EP that took me no time to "get in to". It grabbed me from the first listen. Some of the most unique music being made today. Neither grunge nor techno but with elements of both. Consider this a green light for all Siouxsie and Creatures fans.

US Retrace is Compised Of...,
This review is from: Us Retrace (Audio CD)
This is an excellent CD from the now defunct "The Creatures," a twosome of Siouxsie Sioux and Budgie from Siouxsie and the Banshees.
The CD offers no new material: the tracks come from the out-of-print "Erasercut" EP, B-sides from "Anima Animus" singles, and the "Hybrids" CD. This is why the CD is called "Retrace." Nonetheless, the tracks are excellent, and if you missed the cds on which the tracks were previously released, you should get it. Now, most of The Creatures CDs are falling out of print because of the divorce between Budgie and Siouxsie Sioux who had been married in 1991. The tracks have a distinctive rumble and simplistic style, with Siouxsie sining over Budgie's intricate drumb work. The latest release from Siouxsie is "Mantary," an album that is unfortunately being maligned by fans; we have yet to hear from Budgie. Supposedly Steven Severin is still working on the Banshees' reissues.

This is a great collection of the b-sides from the Anima Animus album, with a couple of average remixes of Turn It On. This has all the b-sides from the out of print eraser cut e.p., including All She Could Ask For, which is worth the cost of the whole shebang - Sioux's lost, haunting vocals layered over menacing synths and Budgie's excellent drumming...who could ask for more?

it's alright but Eraser cut will suffice,
This review is from: Us Retrace (Audio CD)
When I picked this up I quickly realized that I could have saved myself the trouble since I already had Eraser Cut and the only tracks on here that are really all that great are the ones from there. The extras are okay but not all that . . .
I think that Eraser Cut is hard to find now so, if you come across this one and you don't have THAT one, go ahead and snag it.

This album is worth it for "All She Could Ask For," if nothing else. That song is so beautifully haunting...it's nearly perfect.
